Thanks

We have a top composer making a very exciting score for the game. We haven't yet determined the level of hardware sound effect support. It will be good, though :)
Oh... nice to see you again Jan and thanks for reply!

I was just wondering how I am envying your holiday period, surely well deserved, but really far from my current availabilities... welcome back! :D

Operations area

Hello,
Mediterranean Sea is burning, and the international military focus is moving there: any chance to have this zone on NWAC maps, maybe with marine unit forces of borders (Italy :p, France, Greece)?

BTW: any news from developer diary side?

Thanks

Cooperative multiplayer

Hello,
I read in a your old interview that you plan to provide a solid multiplayer layer, but you did not say anything about the available mode: 1vs1 for sure, but what about teams on two or more sides, eventually humans against AI on a multiplayer game? Any progress from this point of view?
Thanks in advance for attention.

Hi sertore,

Yes, we've said that the only mode we promise at game launch is 1vs1. I see the arguments for cooperative vs AI, 2 vs 2 and even free for all, but we simply cannot promise to be able to create a good experience in the remaining development months. We'll definitely look into making these modes available at some point, though.

Game development is very much a "kill your darlings" process. We have to leave out a lot of stuff that would be cool to have and focus on the core experience and making that stable and enjoyable. Otherwise we'll never be able to deliver the game!

Once we are there, there are patches, updates, DLC, addons and sequels.

Puzzled...

Hi Jan,
thanks for reply.

Useless to say that I am not happy to read your comments: as you know, I am belonging to a virtual naval group and therefore a multiplayer game make sense in team vs. team version, meanwhile the 1 vs 1 (or 2 vs 2) is totally unusable in our landscape.

What I can say is to stick the team vs team (or team vs AI) multiplayer feature as we really would like to complete our simulation games list with your one: please kindly consider our point of view in your "kill our darlings" process, as few features are really important, at least to let us able to have a sufficient and solid substructure to develop by ourself the desidered but missed peculiarities.

I think our considerations can be shared by all the virtual group of players, that can represent a big part of potential customers of your interesting game: please do your best to let us pleased on this crucial point.

Sure on your understanding. ;)

We'll see what we can do, Sertore. We have a wish list for ten years of game development, and some things have to go (ask any game dev on this board how that works!).

Hopefully team play can be implemented quite easily, but understand I can make no promises.

Or you could rush to put everything in with only one year dev time and release a buggy, ultra complex, resource hogging not very fun to play software.

Anyone remember HoI3 release? :)

What are you saying?

Who's telling that?

Please, be serious: I just formalized the right point of view of a virtual naval group, not single players that are looking for another RTS game to play alone.

The possibility to organize and play team multiplayer games is a critical issue for us, and this is the only thing that I would like to point out to stick our request to game developers! ;)

Expected multiplayer number of players

Sertore,

You seem to say that even 2vs2 is not what you're looking for. Are you thinking games like 5vs5 with each player controlling their own ship or unit?
Hello Jan,
I said that we are interested to team vs team or team vs AI, surely 2vs2 does not fit our current expectations.

As anybody can check on our forum we play regularly on weekly basis multiplayers with more than 8/10 players, and when we organize international meeting we are talking about 15/20 players: now I do not want to have immediately available a number of players so big, but at least a 5vs5 should be fine to start.

Hope this can be acceptable on your side, even if I think that breaking the barrier on 1vs1 or 2vs2, the number of players could be increased in a more simple way than the original 1vs1.

Let me take the opportunity to let you know that I shared my comments with the Betasom people, and the most part really hope to have the multiplayer feature free from any limit and maybe with possible cooperation option (share datalinks between players of the same side, but it is a desidered feature, not critical at the moment).

Anyway, thank in advance for any effort and for the patience in getting our critics. ;)

Modding

Hello,
starting from our last questions we would like to know which is your feelings and plans to support the possible modding of your game: do you plan to release and SDK and/or some documentation? Otherwise, any informal support?
I know we already asked in few threads and posts information about it but I am trying to recap the current knowledge.
As usual, I know that probably it is too early to ask for this details, but just to have a foreground of your current point of view.
Thanks!

We're not fully ready to commit yet on exactly what modding tools will be available. You will definitely be able to add and change all units, weapons and sensors. You will be able to write campaigns and individual scenarios, including scripted events and orders, victory conditions and so on. We hope to be able to give you additional tools to actually change the way the AI and logic of the game works.

Server browser: we're hopeful about giving you a quality matchmaking service with the game, which indicates mods and versions.
