For immediate release,

ANCASTER, Ontario - March 7, 2013 - BattleGoat Studios has today reoccupied the Rhineland with their announcement of Supreme Ruler 1936. This historical real time strategy game for Windows based PCs is scheduled for release in Q4, 2013.

"Throughout the development of our Supreme Ruler series, we saw a World War II title as the culmination of our grand vision", commented Lead Designer, David Thompson. "We've always endeavoured to make significant changes with each new title and this will be no exception. Supreme Ruler 1936 will immerse players in the historical era and feature a depth of play that will provide incredible challenge."

In Supreme Ruler 1936, players will be able to embark on the road to war in many different ways. Economic, scientific, and diplomatic challenges will certainly influence the ability of their nation to impose its will on the world. Meanwhile military buildups and escalating tensions throughout the world continue, as some nations flex their military might seeking to expand their territories, while others pursue peaceful and isolationist policies in hopes of avoiding a second world war.

  • Play Multiple Campaigns from either Axis or Allied perspective.
  • Take Control of any Nation in the World in Sandbox Mode and see how you can impact the outcome of the era.
  • Challenge yourself with many Historical Scenarios for a quicker and fast-paced gameplay experience.
  • The butterfly effect... Influence the timeline and outcome of thousands of historical events.
  • Use Diplomacy, Trade, Espionage, and Intimidation to influence the policies of other nations.
  • Research new Technologies to give your nation a significant military advantage including the Race for the Atomic Bomb!
  • Modernize your economy to become a world leader and support whatever social and military policies you choose.
  • Manage as much or as little of your military forces and production as you like by setting your Defense Minister's level of control.
  • When diplomacy fails... Sophisticated Real-Time Strategic and Tactical Control of your Military Forces.
  • Battle your enemy and Mother Nature, as a fully integrated weather model influences the outcomes of the battlefield.
  • Significant graphic improvements to 3D terrain and Graphic User Interface
  • Up to 16 players in Multiplayer over local network or Internet

I would really have preferred a major expansion for Cold War. It has so much untapped potential. But maybe, hopefully, I will be pleasantly surprised. I find WW2 has been done to death, revived and done to death again too many times now. Perhaps they can be integrated with each other.

Sorry for the REALLY abstract question that you probably won't be able to answer, even assuming you knew, but do you have any idea how the gameplay will differ between Cold War and WW2?

I didn't really enjoy CW as much as I'd hoped (though I still need to play a bit more to really find out), and was wondering how similar the two would be?

wow, that's very abstract. And as you said, hard to answer. We're still developing it. It's based on the same concept, controlling a country at a point in time. We've identified a number of issues we didn't manage to address, things we could have done better, and we're working on those. So it will be an improvement. Without having a better understanding of what got in the way of you enjoying SR-CW I can't say if you'll like SR1936.

There will, as always, be a demo available around the same time as the release.

Again, apologies.

I'm a little unsure of my ability to articulate what I didn't like about SR-CW, so I guess I'll just have to follow the development of this, hah.

I don't think you should refrain from telling what you would want from 1936 though, if anything comes up. I personally would like to see significantly increased modability, especially of the map (population per hex for example).

I am an admirer of Supreme Ruler. But since people won't mind, as this is a Paradox Interactive forum, and the people include Balthagor, I must say that East Vs. West, the new HOI game seems more appropriate. I want a Supreme Ruler game, but not on World War 2. Perhaps, 'Supreme Ruler, 1911'? I wonder how World War 1 Gold Edition is like. I know nothing about the 'Great War'. I do know, that poison gas was used by armies on both sides, or perhaps chemical weapons. Because of the effects of poison gas, and/or chemical weapons on soldiers during the mentioned war, the weapons were banned, perhaps in the League of Nations altogether.

I have no idea how to qualify "how far we are". I can say there is a solid working Alpha and a lot of data research has already been compiled. (I'm seeing German aircraft stats in my sleep)

Get back to Verk you schwine! No schleep! Der Fuhrer demands results, RESULTS!

Great news, i seemed to like 2020 a bit when i played it, hope this ones quicker, and smarter AI than the ones before other than that Good luck and will follow.

Balthagor, being the voice of Battlegoat, and people who make games there, must consider that like HOI, Hearts of Iron, Supreme Ruler can be improved as a game. I mean, I like Hearts of Iron 2, and it seems great, with an unforgettable interface, soundtrack, and other niceties. HOI3, is serious too, and in many ways, also very good, in fact, it can be seen as better. It must be, better, HOI3 from HOI2, but HOI2 is also unforgettable. Why not another modern simulator, if you want to make more games, and why not make this a future consideration?
