Howdy,

I have a Gateway Pentium II, 128 MB RAM system that uses a Creative Sound Blaster 64D sound/video system. I cannot get the game to run. I get the whirring "I'm thinking" sound from the computer, then nothing. I have tried to follow the steps outlined by UglyDuck, but to no avail. Does anyone know if there is a patch or something that will fix the likely culprit of the game's security codes? Any help would be welcome!

Chuck

If you post on the Strategy First help forums off their website, they might be able to help you. It is their security system, not Paradox's.

I will beat down their doors on Monday, and I did leave a message on their support site, but now I can't find it. I was hoping to get some playing time in this weekend, but oh well.

what is the brand and model # of the CD-ROM you are using?

Matshida DVD-ROM SR 8583, and a Philips CD D 3610 CD -R/RW

The copy protection system does not work sometimes with DVD-ROM and CD RW.

Try to disable the DMA support and to shut down your firewall, if any (it is described in the "running problems" thread).

Try to install it on another computer (friend, family, office) to see if it works.

You're welcome :)

copy protection question

Since I am unable to run this game, is there any notion of a patch to defeat this copy protection problem? I know that I am just too stupid to overcome this myself (I have tried many of the remedies mentioned, and apparantly cannot get any updates for my CD drives); I am therefore asking at least for some comfort for my still-smarting wallet(have been so recently divested of 50 bones).

Thanks.

OK,

Now that I have been moved, does anyone have any information? Even a negative reply would be appreciated.

Thanks

I have merged this thread with the previous one rossbach since it's about the same problem.

Look a few post up and you'll have Nabil (SF representative) e-mail adress. E-mail him and tell him about your problem and what you did (provide him with the link to your post). He might be able to help you. Unfortunately, there isn't much I can do when it is a copy protection problem.

Can you try to install the game on another system with different hardware to see if it runs?
