Is there a database or manual about the conditions that cause the surrender events to fire, and its consecuences?

I´ve tweaking the Bitter peace to my taste, and was thinking about create a surrender evente for UK when Axis controls the island, but there are a million events in the files, and I´m not sure if I´m missing some existing events about that.

I was thinking about making a USA "white peace" event with GER if there are no Allies left in Europe and the USSR is defeated.

I´m not sure if there´s already something like that in the CORE events, and I don´t want to crate conflicting events.

Thanks for the help

Play with SMEP mod which includes the best surrender events you can find any HoI game.

Is it compatible with CORE? Didn´t see anything specific in the thread

I mean completely compatible, not "the game will not crash when you start it" compatible. Don´t want events messing with each other and giving weird results

Thanks for the help

No, SMEP is not compatible with CORE. You have to install it over Vanilla. CORE doesn't have much surrender events. So, if you want near post-ww2 borders, you should try something else.

Oh, that´s bad luck.

It seems that I will have to make some events myself, or just play as it is now, as I´m not going back to vanilla.

I didn´t want anything remotely as complex as SMEP, just making UK surrender when it loses the british isles instead of fighting back from Somalia, and making US offer white peace when it´s clear they should be fighting Japan instead of fighting alone in Europe when they have no allies left.

I already looked, but it seems I missed it.

Time to search again...

EDIT: Found it!!

I was searching in the country event files, and it is in cored_hoi2

God bless the multi-file search function

If you do something that works with CORE please share it here :)
Being a long-time SMEP player it feels like the game lacks both realism and a goal to play for without having proper surrender events.

LOL, you must think I´m a modder. I didn´t even know how events worked, I spent some minutes figuring out the basics and made a few changes to the existing UK surrender event, so it has no VP lost requirement, has slightly reduced IC requirement, and you need to take a few major cities in England and Scotland. Then the standar peace agreement and colony seceeding event fires, just like before. It was like 10 min work, so I don´t think is worth posting.

If you want to see it just ask and I´ll search for it again, it will be a (probably undeserved) honor. Maybe I´ll spend some more time learning how it´s done and make a USA white-peace event when it´s clear it has no business left in Europe (France lost, UK lost, bitter peace fired). It could creat some nice alternate cold war scenarios (with a rush-for-the-bomb arms race included)

PS: Is it me or 90% of the info about HOI2 engine modding is dead links?????

You could manually put the SMEP surrender events into CORE, but I wouldn't guarantee everything working properly.

The good news: SMEP's surrender event IDs aren't used by CORE and the text strings are included in quotes (so there's no need to muck around with localization files).

The bad news: you'd have to manually change some things to get them to effectively and reliably work.

SMEP will not be aware of India or Egypt or other widespread territorial changes (although it does seem to have a lot of redundancy). So non-standard regions may not be handled properly (e.g. you may end up at peace with the UK but still at war with India or something).

SMEP's surrender events will also not mute/sleep CORE's surrender events, so unless you manually input the changes (like commands to sleep CORE's surrender events or removing CORE's surrender events), there's a chance that one may fire before the other or both could fire or other randomness.

To install the events anyway take smep-surrenderevents.txt from SMEP's ...\db\events folder and put it in your mod-CORE2\db\events folder. Then go to the db folder and open CORE2_events.txt and copy the line

Code:
event = "db\events\smep-surrenderevents.txt"

Then save and close the file (the path that you put in has to match the path of the surrender event text file).

We are planning a complete set of surrender events - we are aware that this is the largest missing item in CORE - for 0.51. As usual with CORE, they will be quite complicated.

We have no problem if somebody posts a sub-mod here that includes SMEP surrender events. As noted above, there should be no collision with the numbering system, which is the biggest head-ache you have.

Don´t be afraid of modding, it is quite easy once you get the hang of it.

If you'd like to look into editing the SMEP surrender events in the meantime:

Off-hand only the UK surrender events seem like they'd cause problems since some of them rely on ENG (the UK) having held provinces in India. You could either remove those events or edit them so that they check that neither ENG nor IND (i.e. India) hold the specified provinces (and possibly ENG and EGY for some near Suez). Otherwise it looks like the UK will surrender the moment Japan is at war with the US.

I would include a simple edited version but the surrender file is nearly 1MB.

Were is the problem - upload the files - there are a bunch of good hosting sites on the net - just type "file upload" in google.

Would be awesome if you pull it off and share it with all us here.
