As I understood it surrendering is tied to routs and encirclements, presumably if a unit is encircled and routs instead of retreating it will surrender. So heavily fortified towns can be dealt with by simply going around and cutting them off from their side until they surrender. Think they also said that command units are able to stop units surrendering when they're encircled like this, letting players attempt breakthroughs instead.

So if you encircle units in a town... maybe a they have a TIMER till they will surrender.

This is interesting because it will penalize armies that over stretch... but will also create an interesting game play to help SAVE encircled units by having to punch a hole to the town or unit!

I hope it is implemented well!

Presumably, there's a check for legal retreat routes and surrender if none are found. Hopefully, the morale threshold for surrender is below that for retreat so that not surrounding enemies can be a way of dislodging them quicker.

What do you mean... as it relates to Surrendering Units?
In Wargame you can kill you own or allied troops with bombers\arty etc. so it would be kinda strange if the units that surrendered were immune to friendly fire. Assuming they don't just disappear immediately ofc.

I think such a mechanic will really reinforce the need for actual consideration when it comes to attacks, instead of blind charges.

Artillery could become really useful in shooting the crap out of say a village now, not just to panic the opponents as it did in previous games, but also make them much more likely to surrender when your troops hit their lines at exactly the right time

I just hope the game won`t turn into capture-surrrender mode, takes out all the fun of an RTS while clinging on realism, IMHO.

Mostly killing (yes it`s brutal but THIS IS WAR) and relatively few surrendering. Ratio shouldn`t exceed sth like 7:3 (personal feeling).

Enemies surrendering should be that ROFL moment when you managed to, say, take a KT out of commission without bringing up the big guns and/or doing kamikaze attacks.

numerous posts deleted / infracted.

The dev's have said there will be no killing of surrendered troops in game.

This is a game forum, there is absolutely no need to bring up war crimes or discuss them here
