Hi! I'm having a problem with Surviving Mars on my PC. When I go to load up the game, it opens in windowed mode with a blank window, and then it just closes. Does anyone have a solution or ideas?

Has it ever worked on this machine? Or never yet?

If you exit the Epic client then run MarsEpic.exe directly, what happens?

DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

G'day, thanks for responding!

It hasn't worked on this machine yet. I got SM recently.

Same problem.

DirectX Diagnostics
I hadn't considered running DxDiag. I've attached the .txt file to this post.

I frankly suspect the nVidia card is faulty, but you should definitely update its 2016 driver to the 2021 version:

Good luck with that!

Is it an actual card or a chip on a laptop?
It's a card.

update its 2016 driver to the 2021 version
Reading this I got quite excited to know there was a 2021 update, but not according to the website. I put in the details for my driver, and it returns the same old 2016 version I've been on for a while. Also, GeForce Experience says I'm as up-to-date as possible.

one with 768MB was also possible
I had a good look at the card, they've made it quite ambiguous and it's hard to tell exactly what make of the GT330 it is, but I found that yes it actually is a 768MB version. Well, thank you for that! Although I find that a bit confusing because I'm able to play other games with a minimum of 1GB VRAM required pretty okay... huh.

Sorry, you are right, nVidia stopped updating the driver for that old system back then. I thought that was only the older 8800-type models but plainly not.

I'm afraid I see no way forward for you other than updating that card or playing on another machine.
