Description
Game code not able to load

Windows

Steam

What is your game version?
1011166

What DLC do you have installed?
Space Race, Green Planet, Below and Beyond, Stellaris Dome Set, Marsvision Song Contest, Colony Design Set, Project Laika, In-Dome Buildings Pack

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
While playing, the game crashes and is unable to load the game code halfway through. I was trying to take a screenshot but the game disabled me ftom doing so either. I re-installed the game, revalidated the steam files multiple times. [NOTE: Save I'm sending in, is using 2 mods, but without mods I have the same issues).

Can you replicate the issue?
Yes. By just plating the game for 60 minutes.

I'm not 100% sure what you are saying here. Is there an error shown? If so please supply a screenshot, thanks.

Disabling mods does not remove effects they have already had on the save game file. Are you getting this in a colony that's never had any mods used in it?

If so, Immediately after the next such crash, Please attach here the latest (ONLY!) game log file, from here:
C:\Users\{Username}\AppData\Roaming\Surviving Mars\logs\
To see the AppData folder you'll need to enable View Hidden Items in File Explorer.

Plus, DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

As I stated, I was not able to send a screenshot, because the game simply disabled that function.

On the left of the screen, I got a bunch of lines with Error to load game code ###### Error to load game code ###### A bunch of White, Red and Yellow lines.
I have never seen this befotre.

There are some pretty disturbing WIndows errors in that dxdiag, plus a LiveKernelEvent. Would you say you are having issues on this machine outside our game?

That aside, What I'd suggest is a full clean reinstall of the game:

- move any valued save games elsewhere; they are under
C:\Users\{UserName}\AppData\Roaming\Surviving Mars\{large number}\
- "uninstall" in Steam-Surviving Mars
- unsubscribe from ALL mods in the Steam Workshop for the game
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/Surviving Mars AND C:\Users\{Username}\AppData\Roaming\Surviving Mars\ folders; In particular you need to make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam SM or AppData SM locations, before installing again.
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add MarsSteam.exe to the exceptions list/whitelist of your antivirus app
- start the game with no mods active and test
- if that works okay now, you can subscribe to mods again

Good luck!

I do not have any problems what so ever with the machine besides that windows update sometimes killswitch my hard disk. Every two or three years or so.

But that is sadly a problem at Microsoft, since I have a paid license for Windows 10 pro.

I do not have any issues with other games then besides Surviving Mars.

You. don't mention my reinstall suggestion - did you do that but it didn't help? Or not yet?

Hmmmm ... firewall getting in the way perhaps?

You're not in the Steam beta programme, are you?

I am still working on it. Funny thing is that Steam seems to have lost it's comnection to the internet while I can still use my web browser to the fullest.
Is this still the case?

Clean install, game crashed after 10 minutes.
I'm afraid I cannot read .dmp files. Any change in the log file?

It did not create a new log file. I am able to play Cities: Skylines with 73 mods active.

So I do not get why Surviving Mars stopped working all of a sudden
I'm not sure of the connection you are drawing between those two games? Aside from being published by us they have nothing in common - different game engine and different developers.

Neither do I, especially with such weird errors, and not being fixed by a clean reinstall. That implies the problem is outside the game; whether Windows, malware, hardware or what I cannot see!

If we can get a screenshot or even a clear photo of those errors, that would be great.

In your dxdiag you have 2 LiveKernelEvent entries. These happen when Windows or the computer is forcibly downed. Have you seen those happen, if so are they associated with this game or something else?

Yes I had to shut my computer down teice by forcing the power button because, again when playing Surving Mars made my whole windows freezing. Only way to shut the system down was manually sadly. I do not get it. Never had this kind of issues before.

I have forced a windows update through your website.
I'm not sure what you mean here! Windows updates should only come from Microsoft ... ?!?

I understand that, but you said the update came from our site? But we do not host Windows updates ... ?!?

I still cannot read .dmp files, I'm afraid! Is there anything useful in the game log this time?

Please report the temperatures of your CPU and video (GPU)
1/ before starting the game up and
2/ after say 30 minutes' play.
If your PC's vendor has given you no way of reading temperatures, install
SPEEDFAN http://www.almico.com/sfdownload.php

No, It was from that microsoft website you posted. I am currently re-installing steam cause after the latest crash of Surviving Mars, it started happening at my other steam games all of a sudden. All of the games that are installed through Origin or Epic still runs perfectly fine.

Lets hope this does something good
