Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
I tried to change a rover skin to the alternate whilst zoomed quite close to it and the game crashed back to desktop with an typical error message.

Can you replicate the issue?
Haven't tried.

I can confirm this. I cycled the skins but at the second or third cycle the game crashed.

Reskinning domes has no issues though.

I just posted about a crash to desktop in another thread related to Mac graphical issues. However, I just read this posting

That is exactly what I was doing when my game crashed, so I guess cycling thru the rover skins could be the issue.

FYI: I play on a mid-2011 27" iMac with AMD Radeon HD 6970M (2048 MB); 3.4 GHz Intel i7; 16 GB DDR3 ram; using macOS Sierra (10.12.6).

I had not ever experienced this until the Spirit Patch so I thought it was something new, but apparently not. Repeatable and tried on several new games. No mods loaded.
