Actually what's happening is the game is crashing for other reasons. When the game ends for any reason Steam does a sync.

After the next such crash Please attach here the latest one of the game logs:
C:\Users\{Username}\AppData\Roaming\Surviving Mars\logs\

DXDIAG is a program you run from a command prompt or the Windows start menu 'run' dialog box (or 'search programs' in Windows 7 or later). After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Some of those logs just stop, others load up and exit fine. I may have missed one but I see no crashes as such in any one of them.

Please delete them all, then start the game up and play until it crashes, and attach here that one new log, thank you.

Also there's a slightly newer video driver for you, may as well try that:
http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/132838/en-us

Please report the temperatures of your CPU and video (GPU)
1/ before starting the game up and
2/ after say 20 minutes' play.
If your PC's vendor has given you no way of reading temperatures, install
SPEEDFAN http://www.almico.com/sfdownload.php

The game stil crashes but does not produce log files would the crash dump files be helpful?
