Description
Game Freeze about 30 seconds after requesting geologists to the underground. Also Issue with transport.

Windows

Steam

What is your game version?
1010574

What DLC do you have installed?
Space Race, Green Planet, Below and Beyond, Stellaris Dome Set, Marsvision Song Contest, Colony Design Set, Project Laika, In-Dome Buildings Pack

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
After I requested some geologists to go to the underground, I went up to view them go there. While doing that the game froze. Never unfroze. According to the task manager, the game was running and requesting memory and continued to do so. The game is not unplayable. I have attached the save.

Further Another issue is on asteroids, the transport cannot directly load waste rock to a rocket, it can for everything else, just not waste rock.

Can you replicate the issue?
Yes, the save is right after I made the request at the elevator.

I can confirm this issue. Having the exact same thing happen to me.

Made a few attempts: reloaded saves, waited, tried different specializations, shipped unhappy colonists out, etc...
My best guess atm is it may have something to do with unhappy/departing colonists, or at least linked to some colonists in particular, as sometimes the game froze as the first colonists entered the underground dome, and other times a handful of them could get in but still crashed as the conga line of colonists passes the dome gate.

I'm torn between trying again with fewer colonists, or just giving up on this game for a year or so. I understand development is not an easy matter but I'm really mad at the amount of crashes and bugs I faced lately. Just to name a few
- un-clearable rubble
- need landing pad for each dome to extract tourists (even though the domes are connected)
- unreachable waste rocks when flattening
- if you're on the Mars tab and the hub range extension kicks in, it may crash your game (consistent!) - my workaround was to switch to asteroid view as the research reached 100% but lost so much time figuring this out
- recon center stuck at 19.5 electronics, no drone servicing it (unless manual) - destroying/rebuilding worked as a workaround

Those are only the ones I can think of off the top of my head. It's too time consuming and frustrating. I love the game concept but have a hard time truly enjoying the experience.

That doesn't work either. It happens with five already. I don't know the cause, but sometimes after restarting the game I can transport single ones several times, but if i use three or more it always freezes.

This is still going on, and still a really annoying issue with a workaround that doesn't actually work.

Edit: So far I've had best results with adding colonists one at a time, spaced out enough that only a few (3 or 4) are walking from the elevator to a dome at a time.

I have noticed that if there is nothing pending in deliveries, that it allows some of the colonists. When mine failed, it was always when something was pending transfer. There was also a problem that it was sending .6 of an item, and it was getting stuck. I think this was the cause of the issue. So the only way I could get the colonists down there is to make sure there was nothing pending.

I do hope they get it fixed soon, but with the holidays, I am sure we will have to wait till next week.

After some testing I can now duplicate this bug every time. Please use my attached save game and follow the steps in the video attached. One thing I noticed which is very strange is that when I transfer the three colonists down to the underground, 5 actually arrive?

I have no idea why that happens but I assume it is linked to the crash. I have checked the log files but since the game seems to get stuck in a loop the log file appears to not be flushed.

After some more testing it appears I can reliably send down a maximum of 2 colonists at a time; anything else is inconsistent.

I would like to say I'm also experiencing this issue and I'm happy to know a fix is being developed. grandwazir I thank you for the time you put in to developing a viable workaround, as I would have been stuck without your post.

I am also hitting this issue every time. I am able to move 4 colonists down to the underground before it all freezes up. If I try to increase the number of people underground above this number then it freezes. I dont know if this is a viable workaround as having only 4 colonists to maintain a dome in the underground is not really workable.

Four colonists for a dome is not workable, but the solution is to move 4, and if it succeeds, then manual save your game and send 4 more. It'll be a bit tedious. I managed to get away with doing 7 at a time and it took me about 45 minutes to get 70 people underground. A lot of closing the game through task manager. But it worked. 70 people is plenty enough to start a small colony underground.

I confirm the problem. it is the same for me. after letting people into the underground, the games are blocked. I have to close it by the task manager and restart it from the last remembered location. It's always like this. I look forward to the update because I can't work / play underground with people :/

Hi, I have had this problem on my save since december. This bug renders long games unplayable.
It does not matter if you send colonists to the underground, as this bug triggers more and more often the longer you play or bigger ther colony gets.
Now it easily triggers on a single colonist that was sent to take over from someone who died of old age. I restrict births down there to keep some sort of control of population and workplaces.

I get this bug on my latest save 100% of the time after about 1 minute on full speed, and it happens when the second colonist come to replace someone who died, which is a about 5 seconds after the first. The game freezes when he has finished moving out of the elevator and is supposed to run to one of the domes in range. Its like he's like "I dunno what to do, I'm dividing this reality by zero" and time stops and game is dead...
Anyways, it looks like the bug is related to calculating where this dude is supposed to go? My underground elevator domes are almost full but there are more free ones further in. I tried to provoke it earlier by grabbing like 20 and overfill the closest domes, and it did work with no freezeing so this is not obvious to simply overfilling.

Now no chance at this stage of the game, and 1 more crash the game regardless...

I hope you guys are working on it.

AG_MarkPittam I just want to make it clear that this bug is still very much around in the latest version, and the workaround suggested does not work. This is a game breaking bug on a basic feature (sending colonists underground) and I haven't been able to play this game in over a month. Some assurance that this is going to be fixed would be appreciated. Until then, this expansion is unplayable.
