Description
Hud Issues - Mac

What is your game version?
New Game

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
Some part of my HUD will disappear during playthrough of the game, sometimes it will be icons for Buildings / Drone Commanders etc, sometimes icons in Research panel will disappear, arrows for resources in rockets screen when i have enough room for materials

Can you replicate the issue?
Yes , literally always happens

What video systems do your Macs have please? Note that Intels are not supported hardware for this game.

I posted this in another "broken on macos" topic, but it seems to fit this topic better.

I know the devs say Intel is not supported. But the game seems to run ok and the UI seems to be there most of the time so I assume there could be a fix for this. Or at least a refund possibly?

I could try this by installing a windows on a different partition but ain't got time to do that.

I made a video of the glitches here:

I am experiencing this issue as well, and I also have an Intel video system. As far as I'm aware, every Apple laptop has an Intel system. Only the higher end iMacs have Radeon.

If Intel isn't supported, does that mean there will never be a fix for this? Should I request a Steam refund?

The new 15” macbooks have non-intels also. I suggest you get a refund and buy it again when this problem is fixed.

I have 3h of gametime on steam and I cant get a refund anymore.

Bummer, but good advice. I've been waiting for this game for a long time. I hope I'll be able to play it someday. Thanks.

Wait, they aren't? The steam page says nothing about that that I saw and the intel iris chip my MacBook pro has supports opengl4.1 and runs plenty of things just fine.

Are there plans to support it? As noted the game basically runs, but there are definitely issues in the UI, but they don't seem unsolvable.

I feel like this should have been made more clear, maybe it was and I missed it, but I feel a bit let down reading that.

My IMac is
Intel Iris Pro Graphics 6200
and right now do not seem to have any major problem running in (windowed mode unfortunately).
[ Edit } Icons still disappear, no joy .

Icons disappear both in fullscreen and windowed mode, regardless of resolution. Game looks smooth otherwise, and I didn't come across any other obvious issues.

I'm not going to ask for a refund, as I can also play this on a Windows machine, but it's still disappointing that the game doesn't work on my laptop.

I bought this game in high anticipation, came here after running into the same problem, and immediately returned it since it looks like there won't be a fix. It's unfortunate because I love Paradox games and have most of them.

High end MacBooks (Pro?) have had AMD video for ~2 years, a bit of googling tells me.

Our other games (ALL of which are not supported on Intels) will generally actually run on Intels on Macs, just not fast. My main point here is, while this may get fixed as part of the other Mac fixes in the works (not starting at all, pixellated screens, bad colour/contrast) it can't be guaranteed as the game is simply not tested on unsupported hardware.

If you are in the Steam refund window, you should probably go for it I guess.

Oh, and if you have Apple Bootcamp installed you might find that the game works better under Windows on Intels (as the Intel Windows DirectX drivers are better than Apple/Intel's openGL or Metal drivers).

Confusion would have been eliminated to say [ not supported all Mac users with Intel card ]
Paradox never had a problem with Macs with Intel and Cities: Skylines.
Therefore it is just a click of the mouse to buy not noticing the fine print ,or lack of.
I will still keep it with the missing Icons, still a great program Paradox
Thank you

I supported that game since release day, and I'm afraid that is not the case at all! There have been huge issues with Mac Intel and CSL almost since release. That game simply does not run on the older Intel 3000 and 4000 any more, for instance.

System requirements stated for Cities on Steam is that Intel graphics are not supported. Yet works fine on the newer Intel graphics.
I was stating it should maybe have been in the requirements for Surviving Mars.
No worries, Mac users just have to be more aware buying in the future.

You might be able to use an external graphic card if you have a MacBook and it could potentially fix the issue. This allows your computer to use that external graphic card to see everything correctly
