Linux

Steam

What is your game version?
229422

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
Hello,

Below is the description of my issue :

Whatever the display mode (Windowed, full screen, lowest resolution) a crash (total freeze of the computer, but sound still continuing) occurs after a short time of game. I never succeeded to play more than 5 minutes.

OS: Linux 4.15.0-22-generic /Ubuntu 18.04
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q6700 @ 2.66GHz
RAM : 6Gb
GPU : GeForce GTX 960/PCIe/SSE2
API : opengl
GPU Driver Version 4.5.0 NVIDIA 390.48
Power supply : 550W

Message always found in log file :
[Console Error] Light.Important has duplicated default value

Initially on Ubuntu 16.10, I migrate to 17.10, then to 18.04 : no changes with this issue.
It can happens even when FPS>150, and with the CPU loaded at 75%.

Thanks,

Can you replicate the issue?
It happens each time. in attached file an example.

Good evening,

Thanks for your very fast reply !

The video driver are the one Ubuntu proposes (Nvidia priprietary driver tested). I can change them but I tried the game again this evening and I checked carefully message from Ubuntu crash report . You have an extract of the crash report in attached file....

I think the game wants to launch a console (Console error because of the Light.important message) and the Ubuntu crash report says "system not configured to drive a VGA console"...
I guess I must find a way to activate this console so it doesn't create trouble when the game wants to write something.

I am not sure to have the time to check that point this evening but I will first investigate in this direction...

Do you know what this error message refers to and do you have an advice to have this console "enabled", or installed?

Thanks and have a good evening,

Me either, TBH. Can you investigate that rather cryptic message through Linux support resources? It would be great to have a clearer idea of what it is actually saying.

From my side :
After finding that it may be linked to some option in the kernel, (https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=143569), I added some options in grub file, did an update-grub and then restart the computer (pic3.png : modification of GRUB_COMMAND_LINE_DEFAULT)
At startup, first, I had to download again the full game (don't understand why). Unfortunately, after a test today, it has not solved the issue.
-> For me, there is nothing in crashes directory (folder empty).
-> After the crash of the game, it was not possible to be back to the desktop, so I started a session in console mode (tty1) and log the dmesg (attached) : we always read the same message about the console in it... (NVRM: Your system is not currently configured to drive a VGA console .... )

That's what I can say for me today.

I am also experiencing game freezes randomly, sometimes the music stops, sometimes not. I have to kill the Render process.

Looks like I have a bunch of dump crash files. I have uploaded one, and the rest as as zip file.

For those interested in knowing the location of the dump files they are here:
