Description
Poor Performance on Mac with eGPU

Mac

Steam

What is your game version?
249143

Do you have Space Race installed?
No

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
MacBook Pro 13" with Razer Core eGPU with Radeon RX 5700 XT.

Most games, including Cities Skyline on high/ultra settings perform at 50+ FPS, however Surviving Mars with a modest city and 1000 colonists is performing ~10-15 FPS when scrolling over my settlement. Frame rate will recover into 30's when scrolling away from the settlement.

I have confirmed in Activity Monitor that the app is using the eGPU, but for some reason not taking advantage of the performance.

Performance is better with the same save file on my old MacBook Pro 15" with an NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M internal card.

Can you replicate the issue?
Yes

Sorry about that, I can only guess it was never tested on that hardware configuration. I take it you've tried reducing graphics settings, resolution and suchlike?

That aside I doubt anything can be done about this, I'm sorry to say; while there has been no official announcement about end-of-life it has now been nearly a year since the last game update ...

Any news on if this will be fixed?

Same here, all of my Paradox titles (CK3, EU4, lag so much (fps between 5 - 14) in low or high settings... except for Stellaris all is ok (Awesome !!!), BattleTech and Cities Skylines the perf is fair enough but came be better.

I'm an owner of a high end MacBook Pro with EGPU and all of my Paradox games have poor fps... that's realy realy sucks.

All stuff I read on Internet and all advices some players share about their are good fps performances with some tricks I tried... (serriously I don't believe them) don't worked for me.

Paradox I realy love your games but seriously HELP US!!!! Please ;)

This situation is the same since some years, really it's not serious.

Hello. I have the same issue with iMac (Retina 2017) and eGPU Radeon RX 480. Without eGpu the game runs 29-40 fps. With eGPU 2-12 fps. Help!
Oh man, thank you so much Pavel you make my day. I runned Surviving Mars on my integrated card AMD Radeon Pro 5500M 8 Go
and I obtain a solid FPS (too slow but playable) with an average 30 fps in Ultra settings. Wow, but like you on my EGPU the game fps sucks.

First time my internal card beat my EGPU Radeon 580 Pro... Paradox team please fix our EGPU fps issue please!

Don't give up!
