Description
Problem with Power Cables

Windows

Steam

What is your game version?
228,184

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
Some of my buildings are unpowered even though they have cable connections via tunnels. When I try to delete the cables, the sprite remains partly on the floor. When I try to rebuild the cables, the game crashes.

This is a hunch, but this might be partly because I have superior cables? Some of my cables had dust on them but did not need repair.

I've uploaded my saved game and crash dump files. The problem area is at the top left of the map.

Can you replicate the issue?
Yes. I simply load my save game and try to delete/re-connect the power cables.

yea, some others and I have been having this issue as well. we mentioned it in this thread. I've actually been hopping on roughly every day to see if there's been a reply or update, but it seems it got buried lol.

we believe it has to do with the amount of changes done to the map. the more you've built in your game, the more likely everything starts breaking.

I read through your thread and I think it's a bit different from your issue. My colony is not too large, less than 100 colonists and it's crashing when I try to reconnect the disconnected part of the grid. There's some similarity in the disconnected part of the grid but I don't think any of the issues in your thread had crashes involved, unless I'm mistaken.

when your game crashes, is it because you try to place cables on top of the cable fragments, or do you fully delete the fragments before trying to reconnect? also, none of the players in the other thread continued playing after the bug occurred, as there was no point, deleting anything broke everything. it's entirely possible we didn't crash because we didn't try to stress it once the symptoms started showing (I mean, who would, when everyone started dying because you cleared up a random cable that leads to nowhere)

your symptoms are the same, just you also deal with crashes. as far as game progress goes, I had 0 citizens and still got the bug (when placing the excavators). after I reloaded and avoided the excavators/cliffs, I played a while, and still got the bug soon after. my colony's definitely not large either, most of my structures are all focused in one small area.

I wouldn't go so far as to say that just because you crashed and we didn't, that our issues are different. it's also entirely possible that our computers are just better than yours, leading to the game being stable for longer than we can stand dealing with. or that your patience is better than ours lol.
