Description
Surviving Mars - camera scrolling constantly.

Windows

Epic Store

What is your game version?
1008107

What DLC do you have installed?
(DID NOT ANSWER QUESTION)

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
I have no DLC or mods. I have no game controllers attached, just keyboard and mouse.
Playing on Windows 10 64-bit. Version 21H1 (19043.1237)
Recent clean install of OS (reset the installation)

I played Surviving Mars some time ago with no issues. Now when I play, the camera keeps seeming to get stuck scrolling or rotating. I have tried switching dispaly mode (windowed, borderless and exclusive) as I found suggestedo n Reddit, but while sometimes this stops it, it does not always.

Based on https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/threads/infinite-scroll-bug-win10.1392815/ I tried to delete my save game files and uninstall and reinstall the game. None of tihs has helped. It makes the game unplayable as you cannot perform any actions.

At least I am glad that I tried playing the game before purchasing the DLC I had looked at. As it stands, the game is not playable.

Can you replicate the issue?
Yes, start playing the game. Within a few presses of any of the scroll or retate buttons while moving around the map, it seems to get stuck.

See video after a clean install of the game - with no save files. Every now and then it gets stuck moving. Sometimes randomly hitting keys will stop it. Other times, holding the opposite scroll boton to what is repeating will stop the map stationary, but when you release, it start scrolling again.

No other game seems to have this issue, and working in Outlook and Word show no signs that keys on the keybord are getting stuck on.

I have attached a video of what it looks like, also some of the log files from this evening.

DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Thanks for your reply. Please see attached.

The only thing I can see in there that I can see might cause this is VoiceControlEngine.exe . Not an app I'm aware of but can it be unloaded or even uninstalled to see if that helps?

Thanks for your reply. That seems to be part of MSI's Dragon Center, for changing the LED pattern through voice. Not a feature I ever use! I have disabled the service and will see how that goes.

Thanks again!

Well, I did manage one evening of playing, so thought that was it. However, I tried again today and it is hitting the scroll issue as soon as I try to move the camera to the right, or up.

So it comes and goes? That's even more bizarre.

This is the first report of this I've seen since the new patches, hard to see why this is affecting you alone at present.

What if you make a new Window suser on this machine, log in as that, and try the game there?

Sorry for the delay, got put off the gaem due to this, but went back to test.

In the meantime, I have bought a new mechanical keyboard and also a new mouse. So neither of the old ones are connected anymore. I did not think it was down to them, but seemed a good excuse for getting some new toys.

Played several hours in a new Windows user. Long enough to think, well this is irritating, but at least it seems to have solved it. But the, no it occured again.

At this point, I think I will have to admit, no matter how much I enjoyed it so far... I am not going to survive Mars.

I'm sorry I could not solve this one for you! Yours is still the only such report, so frankly probably only a Windows Reset or wipe and reinstall would do it. Al lot to contemplate to get a game working properly I know!

Unfortunately I have recently just done a reset of Windows, so this is with a clean installation.

Ouch! Then I wonder what could possibly cause the problem for you here? What a weird one!
