Is this the first time running this game on this iMac? ie the user folders are new and no old, outdated content?

(extracting the bit I do understand out of the other gobblydygook, so I don't have to open the attachment each time I read this thread)
Code:
OS Version: macOS 11.4 (20F71)

Model: iMac18,3, BootROM 429.120.4.0.0, 4 processors, Quad-Core Intel Core i5, 3,4 GHz, 24 GB, SMC 2.41f2
Graphics: kHW_AMDRadeonPro570Item, Radeon Pro 570, spdisplays_pcie_device, 4 GB

And from the time of first install, the first time you tried to run it - it crashed? Do you have all the DLCs or just the base game? You didn't answer this bit.
Just for context, have this iMac run any other CPU+GPU intensive games without crashing or lagging?
If you were able to play before, what was the game version you had before today? With Green Planet? Or some other earlier DLC?

Big Sur is now on 11.6, which means there's plenty of MacOS updates the system hasn't gotten. Most likely too is graphics drivers updates.

The Steam Store page did state minimum requirements of MacOS OSX 10.11 or newer and a GPU with OpenGL 4.1.
Your iMac does meet the minimum but perhaps just a tad under the recommended macOS 11.4, GPU with OpenGL 4.6

I think you just need to wait for a developer to come by and read that log. It's all gobblydygook to me.

This is the LUA crash that's been reported by several other Mac users, it is still under investigation I'm afraid.

Some users find if you reduce the graphics settings it works around the crash, can you try that please?

no, this is not the first time I run it, I ran it before, before some update everything worked and did not crash. there are saved games.
I have Surviving Mars: Deluxe Upgrade Pack. so it was originally, there were no other additions. And, I repeat, it did not crash before one of the updates.
I will attach a list of installed games, all except Surviving Mars start and do not crash.
oh, it turns out, there really is an update, Big Sur 11.6, I did not know that) I'll let you know if the update helps.

I turned off vertical sync and the game does not crash anymore. I also updated OS to Big Sur 11.6.
