How exactly are you meant to install the most recent (SVN) version of the mod? I tried the link in the Clairvoyance Corner but it didn't lead to a downloadable file.

Read the post above yours.

There's this great thing called Google (or Bing if that's your flavor of choice) that would tell you to go to http://tortoisesvn.net

SVN allows better tracking of the versions of files, there is a simpler file download that they package up with each release, but if you want to get the files as soon as they're changed then SVN is a good and effort free way to deliver them.

Except it's a) hard to use, b) slow, and c) doesn't work properly (it downloaded the pre-RoI version)

Huh? There's no way you'd get a pre-ROI version from the current SVN.

As someone who is not on the Dev team but has been using the SVN the last month without a single problem, perhaps you should go back and read the instructions. You could have been using the old URL, but the one I gave earlier is the correct one. Install TortoiseSVN, make a folder, right click said folder and choose SVN Checkout, use that URL i posted, click ok. It may take some time, but it will work.

And after downloading, you have to copy the parts into the right places in your mod folder. SVN isn't user friendly, but it isn't meant for end users really, it's a revision control system for developers.

Given how long it's been seem a real release, and with the patch out for awhile now, it's understandable people want a patch compatible version of LI to play! Basically take every folder you get from the SVN that has one of the same in the last release, and replace them with the old ones (AFTER deleting the old folders. Do not overwrite.) Also, delete the Lux Invicta file in the main CKII directory, not just the one in the Mod folder.

you probably used to wrong link
this is the now abandoned (because of overshooting google code size limits) SVN link: http://code.google.com/p/lux-invicta-interegnum/
this is the current SVN link: http://code.google.com/p/lux-invicta-repository
SVN is a tool we use so that we can easily share edits. it's not really meant for actual usage of players - and normally it should be hidden and/or password protected, but we decided to make it open-access for beta-testing, since LI is still in beta anyway. then again, since it's been a long time since a proper release anyway, that's also a reason why we don't even bother restrict access - play at your own risk, since it seems the SVN is updated almost daily

One simple question. After downloading all the files from the SVN into a folder, am I supposed to copy the hidden "SVN" folder to "Lux Invicta" in the mod directory as well? I usually leave it and the "Place your modding stuff here" folder out. Everything seems to work fine, but I've just been wondering what exactly the hidden SVN folder even is. It takes up a lot of space.

I haven't looked at that, but am pretty sure it just has the revision control database. No, you just have to copy the game folders and the .mod file over.

One thing that bears mentioning is that you can modify the SVN to disable the files you don't want - since the "place your modding stuff here" folder is HUGE and not needed for the mod to run, you should probably take advantage of it (before I figured this out, that folder would often prevent me from downloading the mod as it was large enough to force the internet connection to time out).
