Hi!

I have seen that many of you have had a problem with checksum when trying to play a multiplayer game (if you try to play with a friend who has a different checksum, you won't be able to join his game).
At first I reinstalled the game until I got the same checksum as the friend I was trying to play with, but purely by chance I "discovered" a simple solution:

The checksum is dependent on a file called misc.txt and it's found in map db in DH folder. So if you have different checksum than the friend you want to play simply follow these steps:

1)If you play Darkest Hour Full go to the game directory then Mods-->Darkest Hour Full-->db and find the misc.txt ; for the DH Light go to Mods-->Darkest Hour Light-->db ; same applies for HOI2 Arma or Iron Cross.

2)Copy misc.txt and send it to your friend, he should overwrite his misc.txt in proper directory

3)Voila! You have the same checksum - enjoy playing

P.S.: Another cool thing with misc.txt is that it controls a bunch of settings like max. size of air-stacks (iow. how many air units you can merge into one group(the value is 4 by default)) or what percent of Industrial Capacity you get from occupied provinces(non-national and non-owned; you can set any value between 0.0 = 0% and 1.0 = 100%)

There are a lot more files then misc.txt used in the checksum calculation, but that's not the problem. The real problem is that there are many more that are not accounted for (like INC and event files) so even if you have same checksums you still could have some different game files.

The only proper way that ensures same game files for all players is to use a clean game install + same patch + same version of the mod (if you're playing a mod).

I know there are many files that account in checksum calculation, but from my purely practical experience, when I edited the misc.txt, 4 checksum letters changed. And when I sent altered version to my friend, we could connect without problems or reinstalling the game, because friend's checksum was altered too.

But in every way, as you said, you have to insure, that you have same game + patch version.
