I currently only use a Mac, MBP. About this Mac shows:

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013)
Processor: 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory: 16GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Startup Disk: 512GB SSD
Graphics: Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB

According to Steam, the minimum and recommended system requirements are:
MINIMUM:
OS: OS X 10.10 OS X 10.9 OS X 10.9 (64-bit)
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo, 3.0GHz / AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+, 3.2GHz
Memory: 4 GB RAM
Graphics: nVIDIA GeForce GTX 260, 512 MB / ATI Radeon HD 5670, 512 MB
Network: Broadband Internet connection
Hard Drive: 4 GB available space

RECOMMENDED:
OS: OS X 10.10 OS X 10.9 OS X 10.9 (64-bit)
Processor: Intel Core i5-3470, 3.20GHz / AMD FX-6300, 3.5Ghz
Memory: 4 GB RAM
Graphics: nVIDIA GeForce GTX 660, 2 GB / AMD Radeon HD 7870, 2 GB
Network: Broadband Internet connection
Hard Drive: 4 GB available space

My question is on the graphics performance of this MBP. (My CPU, disk, memory seem sufficient).
I have: Graphics: Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB
Minimum: Graphics: nVIDIA GeForce GTX 260, 512 MB / ATI Radeon HD 5670, 512 MB
Recommended: Graphics: nVIDIA GeForce GTX 660, 2 GB / AMD Radeon HD 7870, 2 GB

So, this integrated Intel Iris Pro 1.5GB isn't mentioned, as the requirements mention having a discrete graphics card. My question is, can I assume that Cities: Skylines will run on this computer? I've noticed that some other forums mention that other Paradox games run on the Intel Iris graphics.

So, if this won't run, I'm wondering, if I would be able to transfer the license to a Windows version (I've donated my previous gaming machine to my mom, so she can have an email-machine, with top-of-the-line everything), or, perhaps sending me a refund, or a cool Swedish T-Shirt.

Thanks in advance

Just to answer on the license question; when the game is marketed to support multiple operative systems on Steam, you have a license to use on any system, as long as you are signed in on your Steam account. So if you in five years (unlikely, right? We Mac users can never entirely let go :D ) only have a PC, you can play it on your PC. If you're staying a weekend at some friends and want to play, just sign in to your account and download!

Bearing in mind that my 2011 MacBook Pro comes with an i7 that's clocked at 2.2GHz can Turbo Boost up to 3.2(I think, close to that anyway) I don't think you should worry too much about your processor speed being too low because with Turbo Boost you probably do exceed the requirements.

As for the Iris Pro graphics, just because they're not specified doesn't mean it wont work, but you certainly will not see the performance of a dedicated gaming graphics card. Heck the Iris Pro out-performs the AMD 6750M in my MacBook Pro which is apparently supported and should play the game at least on medium settings.

I'd suggest doing what I'm going to do - download it and try it for yourself. If it sucks, then I have a Windows box I can borrow to play it on just like you can.

Even if it runs, it is just not worth it IMO. All the graphical lags and low quality you have to endure...
The only integrated GPU I would try to run any current game on are AMD APUs.

Here they say any iMac after 2011 will work, so, I'd say yes, you can run it, they said the one with the thin sides, (I think 2013 or 2014) will be above recommended specs
Thanks, it does seems like it will run even on recommended, not just minimum, the only problem is that graphic card, hopefully it won't be a problem after all D:

Have you seen this thread? Maybe it can help you, just follow the link: http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/...llow-this-link!
Interesting, I wonder if its official and it does support Intel.

I switched to a desktop PC 2 years ago, best choice in my "technology" life. Even on my old MBP I only use Windows 7 (it seems faster and I just hate OSX mouse acceleration when I'm using Adobe Illustrator). I'm planning to replace my MBP to a notebook PC next year ;)
Once you go PC you'll never go back, :p

BTW graphics is your problem also because Macs screens have a very high resolution. PC notebooks use those integrated graphics with 720p or 900p screens, Macs have 1200p or even 1600-1800p (retina) with that terrible integrated graphics.

According to this site http://www.futuremark.com/ your Intel Iris Pro 5200 beats the minimum spec Radeon HD 5670 by about 25% (1860 vs 1500) so you should be ok. The Iris Pro isn't so bad as far as integrated graphics go. If it was just the Iris you'd be out of luck. The fact that your processor, memory and SSD are so fast will make the game more than playable, just not with high graphical fidelity, and don't even think about playing at native resolution!

Just for comparison the GeForce GT 750M discreet graphics card gets 2590 while the recommended GTX 660 gets 6830 and the Radeon HD 7870 gets a whopping 8200.

Most Mac users probably had Windows, often its also the reason they changed, because they didn't like it :p Many have both. So your theory is wrong ;)

That's my case... I switched from PC to a Mac back in 2005... gee, 10 years ago already...time flies! Not going back to the PC. My "game" iMac is a late 2012 27' iMac, 3.4Ghz i7, 32GB DDR3, GTX680Mx 2Gb and tons of solid state disk space ;-)

Interesting, I wonder if its official and it does support Intel.

You know, I reckon it will be fine with the Intel gpu, as cim2 was on the same engine as skylines, and that runs fine on normal settings on my 2014 MacBook air, which uses the Intel hd graphics 5000, also it supports directx 11, which the devs said would be required, so i have hope that Intel gpu will be supported!

Boy am I glad that I bought my 15" rMBP when they gave you a dedicated graphics as standard not as an upgrade option.

15" rMBP Early 2013 Specs:

2.4ghz Intel i7 (3.2ghz Turbo)
8GB RAM
256SSD
Nvidia GT 650M 1GB

Granted the graphics is not quite up to the recommended specs level but sure beats the minimum comfortably.

That's the same card in my rMBP (also Early 2013 rMBP here). But mine is maxed out in the other specs, got it back when I had a job and money! But don't be too tough on the Iris Pro, according to the FutureMark 3DMark the GeForce GT 650m is only 17% better than the Iris Pro. The 750M fairs a bit better.

I wish Apple used better graphics, but I also like my laptop slim so I guess I can't have the best of both worlds :(.

The recommended specs are pretty high end. I'd love to see someone on a crazy high end gaming machine push this game's population!

Bad and maybe good news? I forgot to post it, but co_Damsku answered my question about Macs on the latest AMA. Here is the conversation:

ME: Did you test the game on Macs? If yes, do you know which Macs will run it and which won't? Many Mac owners are worried about Intel graphics not being supported.

co_Damsku: You can find the exact Mac specs on the Steam store page. Unfortunately, Intel cards are not supported as it seems all of them are below the minimum requirement, especially when they lack dedicated vram. :/

ME: Oh no, I hope it will run on late 2013 macs anyway...somehow :( Thank you for answer!

co_damsku: I do not know enough about Mac devices to give you insights about how the game will perform on 2013 hardware. What I can tell you though is co_martsu has been demoing the game in events on a retina display MBP from 2014 running Bootcamp and it has had no problems in term of hardware. :)

ME: Good to hear! Although there is one MBP form 2014 with Nvidia card I believe, so she may have that one. Pre-ordered anyway, I have faith :p
