I am running this game on my laptop, 64mbRAM, AND have like 295mb
open for memory. Problem is that whenever I move the mouse on the game screen, lag happens for 1-5 seconds.

So...what do I need to buy to speed up the game w/o lag? More RAM or more memory? I was thinking about getting a 128 RAM to upgrade, this this correct?

Get more RAM.
I assume those 295MB are hard drive space? You might want to do some defragmentation on the HD (run the program defrag), it helps some.
 
Graphics Acceleration

You have a few options available to you without shelling out for a RAM upgrade. You could change the Graphics Acceleration settings, for example, or download the 1.04 patch (versions from 1.03 on have less memory requirements). If that still doesn't help, then probably a RAM upgrade would do the trick.

Ya all I have is a laptop, the maps look small on it. I will try that defrag program as well. I don't know much about computers but if I download 1.04, will it save automattically to the EU2 directory? Or will I have to direct it somewhere, if so, where?

Anyway, this is my first rts game and I am completely lost, but I love the challange and am learning slowly.

Another tip that has worked for me, is to go into the control panel click system icon and find the settings for virtual memory and set both the upper and the lower value to double the value you have in RAM (if you have 64 RAM, set both to 128). You will have to do defrag first though, since the virtual memory actually creates a file on your HD that has the size 128MB, and if your HD is fragmented I don't think that will work very well.
I've done this on my machine, and it speeds up the game noticably. Don't expect wonders though... ;)
 
Once you download the patch, it'll do the work for you when you double click it and follow the instruction from there, assuming you installed to the default location.

But otherwise, defrag. Run at the small resolution. Save for more RAM, you'll need it eventually anyway. I'm running 128 and don't have many :rolleyes: problems.

casus belli or CB. It's a "cause for war" in other words, it's the excuse that let you declare war without penalty.
