T.H.E. Beta testing is opened !


Please notice a couple of things :


First, anyone is welcomed to join T.H.E. beta testing team.
But beta testing isn't just playing. Beta testing is the most important part of the development because you can suggeest enhancements, you can point negative and positive points, you can share your experience with other beta testers.


What do I expect from you in general ?


I expect motivation, I expect you to have enough time for your tests.
I don't want you just to tell me "that's great" or "that's unplayable". I expect you to point what is wrong or what is good.
I expect you to make me suggestions to improve T.H.E. mod, to propose fixes and such.


What do I expect from the first beta testers ?


This first beta IS NOT playable. It regroups all works that have been done so far but :

- there no events
- there is no AI enhancement
- the tech tree is not finished


You ask : then, why testing this ?


Because i want to have feedbacks about the OoBs, the map (airbases, harbours etc etc), the sliders, the ministers, the combat system etc etc.
Any suggestion or criticism if constructive is welcomed. Just remember that it's just a mod (even if it's T.H.E. mod !) and that we make this for free.


I am interested, how can i get the beta ?

i'd be happy to beta test for you. the proposed changes to the combat system and different divisions for the various doctrines are of particular interest (from one of your other threads).
 
Ok. So let's start.. ;)
My first view is that there are a lot of brigades stack together. What about making a divisions?
I have an idea - maybe strange or stupid but..
What about making generals (not Marshall - i don't know what about them) comanding only 3/4/5 brigades - it will be necessary to make units in about division size. In real life even the best leader can't command to many units without a large staff.
Then - making the HQ cheaper (with low stats of course). It would be necessary to produce more of this units. So for leading a larger battle you will have to make HQ units moving with your troops along the front. Mobile HQ (perhaps with motorization) with a higher rank general or field marshall fore offensive purpose and other HQs for defense.
You will have your brigades and there will be historical divisions (and not large amounts of brigades in one unit together).
So, what do you think about that?

Other thing - what with ships and planes - i don't know what about aviation but ships should be rather the CORE style - single destroyers and subs.

Thats why i said about HQs
Would it be to much problem? I'll make some changes and see what happens.
I only think about realism nothing more. So stop shouting on me :rofl:

EDIT: Making the leaders commanding only few regts will force to create units in a size of division and the HQs will help in Battles with more of divisions (tens of brigades) so you'll need to have an HQ to support larger battles.
Sorry but my english is not allowing me to speak what i mean...

or mabe its making the game less playable??
 
HQs are cheap. 8 IC and 4 for Inf Bde. This is cheap, isnt it ?

only more support with the HQ - Standard is *2 so lets make it higher
Brigades will be stacked in Divs (becouse of this limit) but a Frontline HQ unit (with some support for defence) will be moving with these units to lead the battle.
Even a great general cannot command to many troops on his own without HQ as i said before

i don't know if i say it clear enough :(

Of course the HQs shouldn't be to large in numbers
 
i'd also liked to give it a shoot, ihave a quite new computer,so i could see if it is slow or fast.
i want to test the new brigade , regiment system , which you have implemented into the game.
i have free time from today to next sunday also.
