They will not work properly. REB will not work at all, because it is used for rebels. MER isn´t used, but if You try to make a country with it, this country will never have diplomatical interaction (royal marriagese etc.) with other countries...
Will the MER nation behave normally other than diplomatically? Will it raise armies and defend itself?
Suppose I want to keep the Royalists in England, but also have the Serbians as revolters. Could I assign some smaller, less diplomatically active nation (like Nubia, for instance) to the MER slot and give the SUD slot to Serbia? Can Nubia still fulfill its purpose in the game (which I understand is to act as a buffer between the Ottomans and the Mameluks and as a springboard for the emergence of Ethiopia) using the MER slot? If not, do you have any other suggestions for nations that could be moved to the MER slot and still do what they need to do for game balance, but free up a slot?
I would not mind turning the Knights into MER. A quiet little State on Rhodes that simply resists when attacked. Otherwise I find the Knights a bit odd, just roving around the Mediterranean with an advanced naval-tech fleet yet, in any game I have played, never annexing or conquering anything. I would not mind making them a tough passive foe in order to free up their TAG.
I´m currently pestering Johan to make the otherwise not only unused but useless MER tag fully functionable with the next patch. Should be nothing big, I think - just setting some flags or so....
