So I've had this idea for a mod based off the reconciliation from the adventure zone amnesty. It would give you the ability to use influence to turn aggressive empires against one another with the hopes of their mutual destruction. In terms of actual mechanics It be similar to having a commercial treaty or non aggression pact where you take a hit to influence gain in exchange for a redirection of their attention. You would of course need at least two of these agreements so that the chosen empires would focus on each other which would help with balance in terms of the trade off of this rather powerful deflection against your overall influence gain. The in fiction reason of how it works would be that you send agents in to stoke tensions which would give an opening to add another cool mechanic in that if the empire discovers your plan they you can fail and have the whole thing backfire. I'd love any feedback as to whether this thing has legs or suggestions.

Thanks y'all
