Ever since i saw that youtube video from Johnny Chung Lee about the wii remota "hack" to use it and make a flat surface seem to have dept. Withou 3d glasses. I'm waiting for some game to implement this.
I have no clue how hard this would be to programm but i can dream. And thinking about what games could implement something like that. And only 2 genres came to my mind. 3rd person shooter and RTS games.
I think it would be quite the eyecandy to have a feeling of dept to the world map. Making your Screen a window into another world. And having it look like a semi real table you move your army stacks on.
I'm imagining that the interface in front would not be affected by your headmovement but only the 3d world Map. Since the interface would be part of the window you look through.
Something i always found off with 3D grafiks that it had to pop out of the screen i don't feel this neccesary. A feel of dept alone would be enough to draw you even more into the world.
So i just want to spread the idea of implementing something like that in any game i'm interested in and bring it to the attention of developers to maybe think about it if it would be feasable to do.
And getting a headtracking capable camera is much cheaper than having a 3d capable monitor with glasses.
