Brigades

Vannila            Cold War
========================
-CAG --> CV and CVN Air groups
-ASW           --> Frigate/Destroyer ASW helicopters
-AA --> SSBN ballistic missiles(let's hope we will get 'em to work on non-coastal provinces, mkay?)
-Fire Control --> cruise missiles(deployed on BB, BC, SS, SSN, SSBN, maybe some CG and LHA)
-Improved Hull --> rocket weapons for CG and CGN
-Torpedoes     --> CVS Air group(ASW helicopters + some VTOL's)
-Capital AA --> CVE/CVL Air groups
-Radar         --> anti-capital ship missiles for PG's
As you see, I've changed order of models for many ships, due to AI limitations. It's always builds highest model of ship possible. So I tried to place models so, that it's always builds best ship possible.
Anti-Capital ship missiles are brigade for PG's. That way we can have PG's with missiles and without and keeping number of techs as low as possible.

What are your ideas for doctrines right now?
Right now I'm thinking about industrial techs, but land doctrines should have 3 main branches: NATO, W.P. and Rest of the world. Ideally those branches should have sub-branches. Also some stand-alone techs like CORE's Winter experience, Mountain expirience and so on.

Industrial tech tree

Computers and Network techs provide research bonuses.
Sybthetic Materials and Metallurgy techs require coresponding Civil Industry tech and required by various aircraft, naval and coresponding military industry techs.
Civil industry provide small IC & supply bonuses and some construction bonuses(aircrafts ports and etc). Military industry provide large IC & supply bonuses and decrease land units building time.
Agriculture techs provide manpower and supply bonuses.

Secret tech tree

These are my initial thoughts about space program and rocketry techs for secret weapons tech tree(also there will be encryption/decryption techs). Small Missile techs are required for all kinds of techs like fighters, guided missile cruisers, various brigades(cruise missiles and so on).
Tactical and ballistic(ICBM) techs are required for various rockets/missiles.
GPS techs will be needed for C2 techs and various doctrines. I don't know if spy sattelites can be implemented correctly, but I included them too.

Stupid question in regards to the infantry tech tree:

4kc2qs3.jpg

We're renaming mountain brigades to light infantry brigades, right? What, then, are air assault brigades supposed to be? Historically they're light infantry that are transported with helicopters... as such, how are they any different from a light infantry brigade with an attached transport helicopter unit?

Could we use that air assault brigade as something else? Light armored or armored cavalry maybe (like US armored cavalry regiment or French Brigade légère blindée)? Something else?

Well, we already have armoured cavalry, so I don't see need in another light cavalry. And about air assault division, I'm basing descision to include them on US Army TO&E. Besides, Air assault division has integrated attack helicopter squadron. Also, they should have the ability to use airborne armored vehicles, how're you going to simulate this if you'll use transport helicopter brigade to turn light inf. division into air assault?

I think that the best example for an air assault division is the U.S. 11th Air Assault division, ex 11th Airborne Division.

Is there any way to modify carriers to have more than one CAG type? The current HOI system wouldn't work for a system that would extend into modern day, as carriers today don't carry one solitary plane type, like it's portrayed IG.

Yes but you have to replace a naval brigade with other, and add "allowed_brigades = [brigade name]" line at the top of the unit configuration archive.

Isn't it's more simple and easier just to add naval/shore bombardment/air attack to simulate CAG capabilities than adding 3 different brigades?

The Spy satellites can raise the surprise chance "us" and reduce "their" surprise chance

Bump! :D

Air tech tree update:

Two additional types of CAS models:
Light CAS and Gunships. I hope gunships don't need explanation? ;)
4l8wy36.jpg

Light CAS represent all sorts of light aircrafts that are used widely over the world for training and support purposes. Some sort of "poor man airforce" or efficient anti-partisan fighter. For example A-37A Dragonfly, Aermacchi MB-326 and e.t.c.

^Very cool and very nice. Does the CAS thing means that the trial of the CAS models succeded?

Silly bug report: Foxbat: add required techs to future agriculture.

Models

Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuupdaaaate!
We only lack doctrine/secret techs, so I composed list with all models/attachements(though it lacks rocket/missile units, doh!).
Download here: http://rapidshare.com/files/59247287/models.txt.html (103Kb, .txt)
If someone wants to start naming models for countries, we'll really appreciate your efforts.

Done. :)

UPDATE: Found error in list: lack of 50's and 60's Mechanised Infantry(Armored Cavalry) Regiments.

UPDATE: Changed model numbers for light armor divisions, to ensure that western tank divisions will upgrade from Post War Armored Regiment to 50's NATO Armored Regiment.
