Technical Difficulties

I am having problems with my EU II, whenever i am playing the game, almost randomly at any given time, the game closes and returns to windows, it doesn't happen during any specific incident in the game, it just closes the game at a random time. I am currently playing with no patch, if it is a patch that fixes this can someone please provide me with the direct url to the latest patch, i can't seem to track it down. Or if the patch does not fix this does anyone know what does?

Getting the latest patch will eliminate a lot of these random CTD:s - but not all - I am afraid. We all have them - and they are being worked upon.

If you shut down everything you have running in the background, you may minimise these crashes.

http://www.paradoxplaza.com/downloads.asp Be careful that you get the right version. The version released by UBI Soft is patched to 1.04 already. Good luck!

Thank you, however as i am only borrowing this game from my friend i don't have the box, so i don't know what version i have and who it was released by, i just have the cd and manual. I don't think it's ubi soft. But i live in Ireland so which version should i download scandinavian or north american? I have no idea.

ask your friend, he'll tell you who the publisher is.

Annoying is a polite way of saying the game is buggy, and needs a lot of help. The game concept is good, but I should not have to reconfigure my whole computer just to run one game.

Lots of games come out that are very complex and have bugs, but the CTD and then the video problem make running EU II a joke. None of my friends have purchased the game as they are waiting for my report that it is running smoothly.........alas that hasn't happened through 2 patches. I await the 1.05 patch and if that doesn't fix things up then EU II comes off the hard drive and the cd becomes a coaster.

The latest patch isn't always the answer, I'm afraid.

I have, on my system, made two parallel installations of the EU2 game. One is the original 1.00 release, the other is patched to 1.04

I can play the 1.00 version without experiencing any crashes or other weird behaviour. However, the 1.04 patch is crashing all the time. So, for now, I continue to play happily with the 1.00 release , although I am missing all the event/scenario fixes that way.

start a new thread and post your entire config. I might be able to help you chase those nasty CTDs (you'll still have the one on surrender though )
