Hi all,

This is a technical question. I am unable to see my saved games when I choose "original campaign" and then "load". Using explorer I can see the saved games all nice and pretty waiting for me but they wont show in game. How do I get them to show?

I suspect there is something wrong with the inf and/or sav file.... so how did I get here? I believe I was playing those saved games on another computer, but then when I upgraded systems I installed KA on the new system and then simply copy/pasted the SaveGame folder over from one system to the other. While I can see where an inf or sav file might point to a location, it seems unlikely that it would be so detailed that it knows it isnt on the original computer anymore... would it? and why would it care?

Is there anyway to get KA to recognize the files in the SaveGame folder? I also tried renaming to the file to Save, as a test, but it made no difference.

If the inf and/or the sav file do point to a location, is there anyway to edit them?

I was on turn 43 and making good progress and would hate to start over.

Thanks!

Did you try to make a save on the new computer/system ? If you start a new game and save it, can you see it and load it ? If so, you may try to swap the files of the saves.

Ok I got it working! Your reponse provided enough to get my brain working. Here are the details in case anyone else runs into the same issue. Explanation assumes you know a bit about computers, i.e. its a discussion, not a stop-by-step answer.

The saved games for KA do NOT reside in the KA folder under Steam, which is where I originally copied them over to. The save games folder actually used by KA resides under your MY Documents folder (drill down till you find it). It is a numbered file that I presume it is created during install. For me the path was: "C:\Users\SysAdmin\Documents\NeocoreGames\King Arthur\SaveGame\-579738211", whereas KA itself is installed under Steam on my "D" drive.

A simple matter of cutting and pasting the contents (saved games - as series of inf, sav, & jpg files) from the original numbered file from an older install (different system or drive) into the new numbered folder should work! Dont forget to copy everything. Overwrite as needed.

Note that the numbered folder itself cannot be replaced. You must use the numbered folder generated by the new install, not the numbered folder from the old install (probably relates to a registry entry so may be modifiable but why hassle?). The number on the folder is essentially meaningless to the end user. After all its the contents of the numbered folder that matter.

Testing indicates this is a simple way to transfer saved game files from an older computer to a new install. Process should work for any cross-computer pollenation, i.e. if you start on a deskstop but then want to continue on a laptop while traveling, etc.

Hope this helps anyone else looking to transfer saved games.
