Aircraft Tech - NO WORK DONE AT THIS POINT
I wouldn't say
no work has been done.

I looked back through old threads and my notes, and put together this as a summary of the previous proposals and discussion:

Brief Descriptions:
Scout Fighters are the classic single-seat interceptor fighters: Airco DH.2, Fokker E.III, Nieuport 11 Bébé, Sopwith Pup, Albatros D.V, Nieuport 17, Sopwith Camel, Fokker D.VII, Spad S.XIII, Sopwith Snipe, Fokker D.XIII, Nieuport-Delage Ni-D 29, etc). They first entered service in mid 1915 with the German 'Fokker scourge', countered later in the year by similar Allied fighters.
Two-Seat Fighters had both forward-firing and rear guns. Primarily intended for air superiority, they could also carry bombs if needed. Examples: FE 2b, Rumpler C.1, Nieuport 12, Bristol F.2b (the famous Bristol Fighter), Roland D.II, Hanriot HD.3, Buzzard, Hannover CL.3a, Breguet Br.17.
Escort Fighters were long ranged and usually had multiple guns, intended to escort bomber groups. These were a French speciality - few other countries developed the type in any quantity. Examples: FK.10, Halberstadt NL.2a, Breguet Br.5, Elephant, Halberstadt CL.IV, Caudron R.11, Caudron R.14.
Recon/Bomber aircraft are used for scouting, artillery spotting and bombing missions. They first saw military use in the Italo-Turkish and Balkan wars, although did not start mounting proper weapons until 1915 (dropping hand grenades out of the cockpit doesn't count!). Examples: Farman MF.7 Longhorn, Taube, Blériot XI, BE.2c, Aviatik B.1, Voisin Type III, DH.4, LVG C.4, Breguet Br.XIV, DH.9a, AEG G.IV.
Contour Bombers (actually known historically as "contour fighters", but we felt that would confuse people) were specialist ground attack and close air support aircraft used for bombing trenches and strafing ground targets, first introduced in 1917-8. Examples include FE2, Albatros J.1, Paul Schmitt 7, Sopwith Salamander, Halberstadt CL.V, Salmson SAL.2.
Strategic Bombers were large multi-engined aircraft used for long-range bombing missions, such as the German Gotha raids on London in 1917-8. Examples include Handley Page O/100 and O/400, Gotha G series, Zeppelin-Staaken, Vickers Vimy, Letord 1, Maurice Farman F50.
Seaplanes were used for naval patrols, spotting enemy ships and submarines and scouting for the fleet - later on they were equipped with bombs and torpedoes of their own. This category includes both floatplanes and flying boats. Saeplanes were also carried on board the earliest aircraft carriers.
Airships include the blimps used by the Allies for naval patrols, but most famously the German Zeppelins. The Primitive model represents unarmed non-rigid airships.
