OK, so we are considering finally upgrading Interregnum to one of the new maps.

Neither of them satisfy anyone, of course (and not just the Polish Horde :p )

I, for example, think that all the provinces deep in south and nnorth America are excessive and beyond the scope of the game. I don't even think the Yukon should be part of the EU2 world, nor Hudson's Bay. But anyway ...

There are two items, the Map (which is for players to look at) and the province.csv, which is what the game machine cares about, all those definitions.

Currently in Vanilla, all the available theoretical provinces are defined with

;;;;;;;;;;;;;;0;0;0

Now, if one was to replce MyMaps definition of

1;Alaska;coastal;exotic;indian etc etc with

;;;;;;;;;;;;;;0;0;0

Would it all be OK, and that part of the map simply never be discovered?

Answer is simple: Critical error when scenario is loading.

Each entry in province.csv is related to corresponding binary entry in tbl files and each entry in tbl files will need an entry in province.csv.

Remember PTI is defined in tbl files, not in province.csv.

Now you can understand why MyMap and WATK never were satisfying for AGCEEP. Otherwise, our lives would have been easier...

I was wondering why you had bothered making your own map when your description in the Interregnum forum made it sound very similar to MyMAP.

Does it still mean that one can make additional PTI by editing the tbl files? Or is that a can of double-headed worms?

Similar but really different. Some areas are almost identical but others are very different. We were publicly opposed to some choices (provinces in particular and overall design in general) made in MyMap and it was obvious Agung Pasha would not change them. End of the story.

You must use Inferis' tools for this. I have no idea if it is possible without original Photoshop layers for an optimal final rendering.
