Texts missing everywhere

I have bought Crusader Kings (yes, CK #1) from Play.com in retail version, new and unopened.

I have installed it twice already, but I got the same result: I see the version is 1.02b but the texts are missing almost everywhere in any interface that I've seen so far in the game. Please, refer to the following screens:

Is this a known issue with a possible solution or should I return it to the seller?

Have you patched the game ? Or did it come with 1.02b installed ?

1.02b is a very, very old patch and not a patch that should come with a recently bought game.

What does it say on your dvd-box ? Does it just say Crusader Kings ? Or Does it say Crusader Kings Complete Pack ?

No, I have done no other thing than inserting the CD in my PC, installing it and then clicking on Play, so that is the version that came with the box. It is "Crusader Kings", not the complete pack.

Try to see if installing patch 1.05 fixes this problem.

If not I would return it to the retailer since obviously something is wrong with your CD. Though reading their policy I doubt they will help you any further.

I have strong doubts that it is a new, unused retail version. Especially since patch 1.02b is a version of the game that is more then 8 years old.

I hope you haven't paid to much for this cd.

P.S.: The mirror that appears in that link for the patch of CK does not seem to work. I had to download it from Fileplanet.
