The Illustrious CrusadAAR's Chalice
The Premier Crusader Kings AwAARd, the CrusadAAR's Chalice is awAARrded Annually or Semi-Annually (depending on the number of qualified entrants) to the Best Completed AAR for that year.
For an AAR to qualify for the CrusadAAR's Chalice, the AAR must be complete, meaning it has a beginning, middle and end. For an AAR, the end of the story must conincide with the completion - through defeat, death of the dynasty or the end of the game. For Fan-Fiction, the story must come to a logical, and reasonable ending. CTD and otherwise discontinued or abandoned AARs are not eligble. The LibrAARian has final say on eligability of a given AAR. Finally, the AAR must be listed as a Completed AAR in the Complete AAR section of the LibrAARy, meaning that the authAAR has registered both the beginning of the AAR and its completion in the LibrAARy update thread.
Qualified AARs face off in a nomination thread with the top nominees voted on by the readers of Crusader Kings AARs. The winner (or winners, in case of a tie) are enshrined in the LibrAARy as the CrusadAAR's Chalice winners. The losers go home and cry in their milk.
The Winner is awarded
CrusadAAR's Chalice for Best Completed AAR
The First Runner Up recieves the
Silver Goblet for 2nd Best Completed AAR
The Second Runner Up recieves the
Pewter Cup for 3rd Best Completed AAR
Here is the Voting Thread for the 2007 CrusadAAR's Chalice!
And now the nominations are closed! All 13 votes (not bad for only two weeks to nominate AARs written over a year ago for a game released almost 5 years ago!) went for 4 AARs, so there will be only 4 AARs eligable for the 2007 CrusadAAR's Chalice. These are the AARs that I read when I was deciding whether or not to buy Crusader Kings. They were among the first AARs I ever read and they are, all four, worthy of your vote. These are the best of 2007 and, I would argue, some of them are among the best of all time.
You have the whole month of December. Take your time. Read through all of these AARs, they are certianly worth your time, and then vote for the best one.
You have until Monday, January 5th at 4:00AM Eastern Time, so there is no rush
You may now post here as much as you want...congradulate the winners, console the losers and whoop things up...but only 1 vote please!

What Are We Doing:
Few things in AARland are more disappointing than the abrupt, unceremonious end of an AAR we are enjoying. After all, we often invest as much in the characters and story of an AAR as we would in a novel or good movie and having it end suddenly can be quite a disappointment. Now on the other side (and believe me, I have abandoned more than a few AARs myself) actually completing a game, writing all the updates needed and then posting them all, well, that represents a huge amount of work and investment in a story on the part of the authAAR. To reward those who have worked so hard to bring their cherished stories and games to completion, and to encourage more to do so in the future, the CrusadAAR's Chalice exists to reward those who tackle and complete what can be a daunting task.
In the next post, you will find links to all 10 Crusader Kings AARs completed in the year 2007. They range from a handful of updates posted over a week to hundreds of updates posted over years, but each and every one represents a complete story, with a beginning and a middle, but most importantly, an end.
What Can I Do:
Well, you have until 4AM Eastern Time, December 1st to peruse these AARs and nominate one you think deserves to be in the final competition. You may post only one time in this thread, either to nominate an AAR or to second (third, etc) someone else's nomination. The 5 AARs with the most nominations will then appear in a poll together and you will have the whole month of December to read these AARs at depth and cast your vote for the best. The AAR with the most votes wins the Coveted CrusadAAR's Chalice.
You can explain why you've decided to nominate that AAR within your post or you can simply nominate the AAR. The important thing is to vote. That is the only way an AAR can move forward in the competition.
What Can I NOT Do:
You cannot post more than once. You only get to nominate a single AAR
You cannot use your post to discuss 1 - The nature of the CrusadAAR's Chalice, 2 - The fairness of the voting system, 3 - What "Best" means in any context, 4 - Anything that might cause a disruption to what should be a celebration of 10 excellent AARs
Hey! Such and Such's AAR isn't included and I KNOW it was completed in 2007!
Then the authAAR should have noted the AAR completed in the LibrAARy update thread.
Since that is a new rule, for the 2007 CrusadAAR's Chalice ONLY, the authAAR of a work may petition me via PM to have a work included in the Chalice nomination process, although I will make final determination on whether a work will be included. Such petition must be made 1 - by the AuthAAR only, and 2 - by Noon Eastern Time on Tuesday, November 18th.
Okay, Great, That's All Out Of The Way! Now What:
Scroll down, there are 10 AARs guarranteed to satisfy your story reading urges.
