Wouldn't be fair. He's got revolvers. And he's one of the people that surpassed the very Gods in the sky in power. (Read Mod.)

Right now I'm leading so let's hope it stays that way. When do the chalices stop, btw?
Well, we might not be able to but the 3rd place finishers certainly can - tied at 6 votes a piece. I still say that should be more!

The Chalices end tommorow!

I'm leading by just one vote. Who knows, maybe we will have to duel over the first place.
It ends April 7, actually. ;)

And remained close until the end, dk! We ended up with two races there (even though we should have seen it much closer.) Good voting numbers but a three year low, I am afraid. 100 votes last year and 58 for the 2007 AARs. Still and all, I appreciate every one I received, to be sure! And thank you for taking the time to read all of these AARs, or at least give them a good look.

For my part, it was an AAR started some 4 years ago and went through many stops and starts along the way. That I finished it at all was a wonder. And that it received enough nominations (a late prospect, I admit I noticed) was an even sweeter reward. That it somehow came a hair's breath of the gold...I still cannot believe (nor understand) that the other works outside of Vesimir's did not get close to the votes Eagle in Winter did...I remain astounded.

Thank you for reading it, for those of you now and I must reiterate...for those of you then. Those in 2006 when I started and had a good steady flow for what...about three or four posts? (Though I did have Into the West going that whole rest of the year...that should count for something! ;)) Then for those that kept coming back as I added a little bit more...some updates paced quickly together and some very sporadic indeed. It took many "returns" and each time I somehow found a group of folks that cared what happened to these admittedly nasty people. Hey, Friedrich won in the end, so "thupt"! :D

In fact, the real hero and person I should most thank is GhostWriter! Without him, I would have never had the push it seems I needed to come back each time and find that groove again. He has won Fan of the Week many times over now and there is a reason. He constantly reminded me that I had promised an update that had as yet not been seen. ;) His familiar refrain of "More" certainly kept me moving at times when I just didn't feel I had the chops. Wherever you are, GhostWriter, this Silver Goblet belongs on your shelf, not mine. :)

Certainly congratulations are in order for the other nominees, for giving the readers excellent AARs to read and hopefully enjoy. But most of all, congratulations are in order for Vesimir for continuing to get those votes when needed! It was an excellent story sir and worth all the votes it received. I suppose I should be proud for giving you a good race, but I still remain astounded that it was not the other two doing so. ;)

Finally, I wish to thank Alfred Packer for running this again this year. He does much work behind the scenes between here and the LibrAARy for this subforum and that kind of effort should not go unrewarded. Thank you most assuredly for keeping this going and offering my tale, finished now over a year ago, a chance to compete with such a strong group of works finished in 2009.

Oh my!

I can't believe this didn't end in a 20-20 draw as I thought it would!

Well, big thanks to everyone that voted for my AAR, big thanks to Coz for giving me such a competition, thanks to Alfred who's not here now for organizing this.

Gee, what else... Thanks to everyone that read my AAR, and thanks to Paradox for making the amazing game CK is. And I'd like to thank thrashingmad, because his amazing White Eagle AAR is what made me start making AARs, and even make an account on the forums.

I still can't believe you chose that old, badly written, full of grammar errors AAR. :) As I mentioned previously, I might rewrite the story (Better dialogues, maps, pics, and all that.) and post it as Life and Deeds of Richard the Lionheart - Remake!. But I'm not promising anything. Maybe. ;)

YES!

Congrats on winning the golden Chalice, Vesimir! Also congrats of course to coz1 and The Eagle in Winter (my favourite :() and the two others who got substantially less votes but finished very good AARs and should have gotten a few more. Sadly we did not have as many voters as last year...

Last year we had Knud Knytling, which is probably the most amazing comedy AAR ever made. Not to mention we had RGB's Russia AAR. On top of that there were less AAR's competing this year.

Still, of course, congrats to Vesimir for gold, coz1 for silver, and IAmWhoa for the PewtAAR!

Congratulations Vesmir, I really liked your AAR ;)

Congrats to everyone else who competed as well.

As CK gets older it is inevitable that the reader base in this forum gets smaller. Don't get too suprised at the lower level of votes. But if Rome ARRisen finishes this year then I'd imagine a 4 year high. :)

Not a 4-year high; all time high. Same thing will happen when Timelines ends. The AAR's are the hallmark AAR's of their respective forums; both were so popular that they retired from ACA's. Needless to say, Rome AARisen probably has a good two years left; we still have a century of history left in that tale of Roman cunning.

And congrats to all once more!

Alright, as I said...you've had a week to see the results, so this may seem anti-climactic, but here are the final, official results of the 2009 CrusadAAR's Chalice!

The Life and Deeds of Richard the Lionheart by Vesimir, winner of the 2009 CrusadAAR's Chalice! with 20 votes out of 52 cast (38.46%) (here)

The Eagle in Winter by coz1, winner of the 2009 SilvAAR Goblet for 1st runner up, with 19 votes (36.54%) (here)

de Haro-ing Adventures by IamWhoa, winner of the 2009 Illustrious PewtAAR Cup for 2nd runner up, with 7 votes (13.46%) [thread=402900](here)[/thread]

We should also thank the 4th nominee,

A Glass of Fine Whine -- A [CK-DV] Lombardy Learning AAR by Landwalker with 6 votes (11.54%) (here)

These 4 fine AARs are now enshrined in the LibrAARy with the rest of the Chalice Winners of years past (this is a link there, in case you were curious).

The interesting thing is, despite the fall from 100 votes to 52, this was still the 3rd best showing for Chalice voting. 2008 was unusual, votes wise, and the 52 votes is still very, very high. That, of course, is thanks to those of you who cared enough to come out and recognize the hard work of these four authAARs. I think the best part of this particular Chalice run was that every AAR was in competition for a prize right up to the end. They all deserved it.

Chalice vote numbers for previous years (for comparison)
2009 - 52 (Vesimir's Life and Deeds of Richard the Lionheart wins by 1)
2008 - 100 (phargle's Knud Knytling wins by 2)
2007 - 58 (thrashing mad's History of the White Eagle wins by 8)
2006 - 34 (Veldmaarschalk's Last Lombard Princes wins by 8)
2004L - 20 (Carmagnola and DoS tie, leading the next two by 1)
2004E - 31 (frogbeastegg's Dragon's Tears wins by 1)

Congrats guys - and well done on an exciting contest!

Also, congratulations to all of you who have had the stomach to take an AAR all the way - I know your pain!

Roll on next year when one of my AARs will be eligible!

;)
