Awesome, @ThaHoward! Looking forward to your vote along with so many others.

I think to have finished mine off outside of Let's Plays. Still searching for those. Otherwise...I feel pretty solid about my choices. Curious to see what others have to offer! So much good work! :)

All works presented between December 1 of 2016 through November 30 of 2017 are eligible and the voting period will be from this day until March 17th.
Just to make it clear: by "presented", you do mean "having received an update during the defined period", and not "started during the specified period"? I know the tradition is that the AARs have to have been updated, and thus I have voted accordingly so far in the few votes I have had the time to cast, but I just want to ask to make it clear and not give you any more work with a ballot that don't correspond with the rules. :)

That's correct, @loup99.

Thank you for the clarification coz1! I will head back to filling in my voting ballot, if I do find the time to dig up all the AARs I have read across the past year. Hopefully what I filled in so far can inspire some, and even if not it is at least that which has been done in time before deadline. ;)

Good to know you've been putting yours together, @loup99. I've been away for the week and the thread has been rather quiet. I hope others are looking to fill theirs out as well. Still some weeks away before the deadline, but don't let it sneak up on you as it often can. ;)

I'm looking forward to a great turn-out for this, hopefully. :)

[EDIT - to add, I may say that it is perfectly fine to advertise this thread either in your own AARs or your signature if you so wish. Help get the word out there. I've posted stickies in all of the major games, but I'm not certain how many have really noticed them. The more votes, the better and more accurate, we may be.]

Wow, I was second for megacampaigns. Truly appreciate it. Unfortunately, since I only follow <5 AARs, I'm in no position to vote

You can still vote for those if you think them worthy enough of one of the year end awards. Every vote counts and will certainly matter when we get to the final tabulation. :)

Okay, thanks

Now we are talking! :) Great to see that my spreadsheet is working. Let's get those votes in there so me, @loup99 and @TheCreator901 are not the only ones to choose these awards. :D

They will certainly matter at the end. There is simply an uneasy feeling about it ; because how can you really judge what is better if you didn't even give a fair hearing to all other works, maybe very worthy, but you simply don't have the time to read ?

My own voting entry would be extremely limited, and I'm quite reluctant too. I don't feel in position to decide fairly.

I don't think you need to decide fairly - you just need to decide honestly.

I mean, it is fair to say I read more than most, but I won't be giving a full complement in every category.

You make a fair enough point, but I would say there is a reason these are not named "Best this or that AAR" but rather simply "such and such of the year." To vote in the manner you suggest would be an impossible task as it would require each voter to read each and every AAR written during the period of eligibility. Outside of @stnylan, I do not know anyone else capable of such a thing. ;)

While there is a slightly different accounting happening here, the vote itself works mainly just like the ACAs. And the more voters we have, the more accurate we may be when the final tally is tabulated. I am certainly no judge on my own of what might be termed the Narrative of the Year or Gameplay of the Year, etc., and certainly not across each of the games as I mainly stick to CKII. However, I made an attempt to look around and try and fill out as full a ballot as possible knowing well that my choices would be different than someone else's. Hopefully we see a robust turn out by the end of the voting such by the deadline we have some clear favorites named. THat is the goal, at least. When we are finished, we can look back to see what worked and what did not.

I would encourage you to participate in the fun, @Lithu, but I certainly understand if there are reservations or you just don't have the time. :)

I do wonder whether there is just too much to do here. Everytime I think it’s time to get some votes set Dow I find something else to go. Like that Uni or Work assignment you keep putting off. It’s also very close to the last quarter’s ACAs which might be adding to the lack of entries thus far.

Everyone wants to win an award but no one has time to vote for it, eh? :p;)

Time is always at a premium. I know it well. That is why I allowed for a month and a half to vote (and I am open to extending the deadline...but for how long?) The premise itself is exciting (which you were when this thread was first posted @Asantahene) but the cold light of day does suggest some work. I hope so as there is a lot of great work to be honored. I've seen it many times before and there is little that anyone can do about it. It is offered and I hope that is is received in kind. I don't think the recent ACAs hinder it as it and the last rounds from this last year certainly helped me in my vote. If there is excitement, I hope that it is followed. If not...well, then we move back to square one. We'll see.

All I ask of anyone is that if you enjoy AARs and wish to honor some, give a vote. For one, for all...give a vote. I do not deny that it might be a tall task as I myself found. But it only took a couple of days here and there to find them for my own vote. It's really not that hard. There is some amazing work being done here and if you look for it, it can be found. :D

Okay. So here is my ballot. There is really not much on it, but I've read the works. I may add some later.

For all those having produced worthy works I have not read, don't take this as anything but a reflection of my lack of time.

- Gameplay AAR of the Year:
1. Blut und Schlacht by @Bullfilter in CK2

- Historybook AAR of the Year:
1. L'empereur est mort by @RossN in Victoria 2

- Narrative AAR of the Year:
1. Before Plantagenet by @JabberJock14 in CK2

- Character of the Year:

Will have to think on it. I could nominate several, but this would basically a list of the most interesting characters from Before Plantagenet...

- Newcomer of the Year:
1. @JabberJock14 (obviously)

- Writer of the Year:

I don't think my vote should influence this title.

- AAR of the Year
1. Before Plantagenet by @JabberJock14 in CK2
2. L'empereur est mort by @RossN in Victoria 2

I will indeed be making some nominations, but may give myself a bit of time to catch up on some works I want to read but haven’t had time to yet :D

Well done @Lithu and thank you for joining in the fun. :) Updating the spreadsheet as we speak. I will be certain to go back over votes to make sure nothing changes between now and the deadline on March 17th. Still two weeks to get those votes in, folks. :D

I will certainly be voting my friend don't worry about that. I just wonder if there might not be a way, in future, to make it easier is all
