I'm mixing up the reveal this year a little bit, but mostly because Character of the Year is going to a beast of a post to build (again, folks...links, links, and links again. Don't assume. ;) ) That said, this is one of the most important categories and while I have some little time, I want to get it out there. In many respects, it may well be THE most important category, as we do not thrive without new blood. Since I began this initiative, these newcomers have become perennial representatives in the accounting and for good reason! This year, we saw 17 different members given nomination, and you may see their contributions listed in the awAARds announced already or, more importantly those to come ahead. I'm almost certain that you saw them within this last year and I hope you continue to support those that decide to join our little area of the internets.

So, here we go. Your name on this list, regardless of where it lands, means that you have made an impact within AARland. To me, that is reward enough! But we must have a winner and so your 2020 Newcomer of the Year is...

A ton of votes in this year's tally and certainly a name to watch! Next up is...

Also many mentions as I counted. And then there was bronze...

Truthfully, every single mention here means so very much! 1, 2 or 3 is so much more than acceptance. It is an invitation! Others given this same embrace were:

Every single one of you are appreciated by notion of this nomination! We (and I think I speak for every longstanding member of this forum) so very much want you to stick around and keep writing, keep commenting and continue to get involved when we try to keep this forum vibrant and thriving. This really is my favorite category because it means new folks are jumping into this little thing we do and enjoy it. More to that, others are enjoying you!

So thank you to our winner, thank you to all of you that gained a nomination, and thank you too all that may be reading this right now but have yet to join in. I'm pretty sure I can speak for others again and say that we want you here. Come on in. The water is fine!

Newcomer of the YeAAR is such an important award, and it’s incredibly heartening to see such a strong field. Many, many congrats to everyone nominated, and of course @Cora Giantkiller, @Kienzle and @Lord Decobius for heading up the pack. Very well done for what you’ve already achieved, and I hope that in all of your cases this is but the first success of many more in the future!

It seems churlish to pick out a winner because in a way they are all winners, for they get to read and bask in the magnificence of many excellent works. Some have better taste than others ( ;) ), but all are most welcome here. :)
