Just started a 39 campaign game with the dramatis personae being:
Andrew - Germany
Geofactor - UK
Chris - USA
BoraK - Italy
Willem3 - SU
Germany knocked over Poland in a couple of weeks and then blitzed into Paris through Belgium in October. The French counterattacked fiercely at Geo's direction but, with no BEF to help them, they soon capitulated.
We then had an interesting Battle of Britain in which London was bombed to bits and Geo bemoaned the sad state of the RAF. When the Norway campaign created a diversion, a landing was then made in Liverpool. The province was seized by paratroopers but they were then driven off by a counterattack. Six divisions then landed in the second wave and these nearly held off the British counterattack but also succumbed. So with the Sealion repulsed, we stopped at that point - about June 1940.
SU, USA and Italy didn't do much - they all seemed to be horrified by the state of their countries in 1939. This is a common over-reaction of those that play the 36 campaign so often - they don't realise that the historical situation was much more restrained for all sides.
We might continue if Geo is willing - he's the key player for the other side.
