The tale I am about to begin is a strange one. You may not believe it. In fact, you probably won’t.
But it is quite obvious that though Sweden played a major role in World War Two, even seizing
Berlin in 1942, they were not a major power beforehand. How did Sweden suddenly arm itself so
quickly? How did they develop the terrible Vengeance Weapons, the assault rifle, so ahead of
their time?

Swedish patriots will tell you this is their determination and ingenuity. Indeed, those must have
played a part, but something proved a far greater boost. You may not believe this, but there is one
real reason Sweden jumped ahead of its time. Alchemy. There. I said it. Believe me or not, that is
what caused it. Allow me to explain my tale...

Vital Stats:

Nation: Sweden
Version: 1.03b
Cheats!*

If you cannot stand cheating, then I suggest you leave this thread now. But then again, why let a
little alchemy get in the way of your reading? ;)

hmm a cheater ay? why are you using 1.03b? commence at once!

Well I wouldn't cheat, but that accursed world market is so hard to figure out I guess I never tried... The real reason I cheated so much in this game was a thought: Wouldn't it be interesting if Sweden had V1s, and used them on Germany? :D

My tale is a strange one. I was but a humble staff member on the Swedish military, but I had
moved up the ranks to become somewhat influential. Influential enough, it turns out, to get to
come on a very important tour of the Swedish Economy. I assumed it would be of little interest,
merely a notice that I was up and coming. I was wrong.

This special panel, with all the close ministers of the nation, were to visit first one of the small
northern provinces. I expected a sleepy provincial town as the capital. Imagine my surprise, then,
when I found the city to have heavy industry all around. It had maybe as much as Stockholm
itself! The central building looked futuristic, all glass. I wondered how it stood up... Still the
marvel of the scene won over all the calculating aspects of my mind. This glorious city, nestled
in these grand mountains! What a sight!

Anyway, we proceeded to this building, and took the elevator to the top floor, which had an even
better view. My awe was interrupted, though, by the entrance of a rather dark, swarthy man who
looked as if he belonged more in Spain then in the depths of Sweden. He introduced himself, “I
am Ahmad, Chief of Alchemy in Northern Sweden. Follow me, and I shall show you what we
do.”

Alchemy? I could not have heard right. I thought he must mean chemistry, but he brought us into
a room that looked like a mad scientists laboratory! He said as we walked past huge chugging
machines, “These are the transmutors. They create gold from the base materials. We add more
Fire to the metal, and it becomes gold from rock.”

One of the generals, rather nervous at all this, spoke up, “You are talking medieval alchemy as if
it were true!”

“Ah,” said Ahmed, “but it is true. The proof is all around you. Where do you think all these came
from? All the buildings? Who paid for them? Us. With authentic transmuted Swedish gold.

“With this gold, we are building an economy of which the U. S. would envy! The gold shall pay
for advancements in science, so Sweden shall regain the Great power status it lost to the evil
Russians in the Great Northern War. We shall have rifles that spit out bullets like machine guns,
rockets that rain down death upon our foes! Sweden shall be invincible!”...

Actually I can only suggest to try to get 1.05c - pester friends with cd-burner or whatever.. it fixes the game in unmentionable ways.. ;)
