Hucson is the chancellor of the king clament a powerful vassal if you read the second chapter you see in the interaction of the Queen and spencer about the political marriage with clement and his daugther
Thanks! My memory is pretty bad, and I’d forgotten his name already—though I did remember that our boy-king is already betrothed.

Hmmm, I notice I said “our” boy-king. :D Clearly I’m invested in your story!

A Player’s Lament

I am furious.

Not the fury of a conqueror denied his crown, nor the rage of a betrayed emperor — no, this is the quiet, maddening anger of a Crusader Kings player watching his world crumble... for the third time.

First, it was my Gothic AAR in Fallen Eagle. A grand tale, lost to the oblivion of incompatible updates when Roads to Power barged in with its promises and its bugs. Then came the fall of my proud Assyrian campaign — a casualty of fate when I had to replace my computer. Gone. Vanished like a forgotten dynasty.

And now? Godherja. My most ambitious saga. A medieval fever dream of lore, blood, crowns and ambition — shattered. Not by war. Not by rebellion. But by something so petty it would make even the pettiest of barons blush:

Patch 1.16.2.3.

A "minor" update, they said. Compatible with 1.16.2.2, they claimed. And yet, here I sit, watching the game crash as soon as I try to load my save. As if the gods of Paradox themselves have cursed my campaigns.

I write this not as a modder, not as a lorekeeper, not even as a storyteller.

I write this as a normal CK3 player, just one more soul in the trenches of save files, mod updates, and broken dreams.

And all I wanted... was to play Godherja.

Sorry i only wated to make a complete campaign what i doing wrong

Sorry all of you i espect to you to come in my next aar again and not think that is because i am a guy to lost interest in them

I’m sorry!

Are you able to play this save (or an earlier one?) if you roll it back to 1.16.2.2? I notice the Godherja mod hasn’t been updated since May 31 (says it’s compatible with 1.16.2.2); it’s possible there’s some issue between 1.16.2.3. and the mod. Maybe. Rolling back to the previous version might allow you to continue?

You may have already tried this, but it’s worth asking in case you haven’t.

I should be starting homework for my graduate course tomorrow, but this is too important. Boring shit can wait. @Flockingbird 's answer is just what I was going to suggest with one more idea to throw in the mix. If you've downloaded Godherja from Steam, consider unsubscribing from it so that the mod can't change without your permission. I had the same thing happen to me with my After the End game. If it gets working again, keep everything on your CK3 game absolutely frozen until you complete your playthrough. That way, everything stays stable and no updates can ruin your game.

I would add one more idea (depending on how far in the game you are and how crazy you are). When I realized that my After the End game was not salvageable, but I had started writing, I was 5 years into the playthrough. I decided to rebuild my court using the console commands and force a few events through so that things were more or less the same. It was a lot of work, but worth it (for me).

Sorry all of you i espect to you to come in my next aar again and not think that is because i am a guy to lost interest in them

I would NEVER think that! You have put a lot of time and energy into this one. Please let us know if you were able to save your game and, if not, let us know when your next AAR happens.

I too am sorry you weren’t able to rescue any of your save games for this AAR.

Whichever time period you’re most enthusiastic about would be best. Are you having difficulty choosing? If so, would talking about it here help you decide?

Like Sirdramaticus, I have a personal preference for narrative AARs. I enjoyed the scenes you presented in this one!

Impressive writing from a non-native English speaker. Congratulations. I'm one too, and over the years, I've realized that it sometimes helps me better understand malformed texts. I guess I can understand the idea behind the mistakes because I could had made them myself as well.

Try reading your posts out loud before you put them up. You will be amazed how many mistakes you catch.
Certainly a great piece of advice. I usually read my posts about ten times before publishing, and a couple more times after they’re published. If you're subscribed to my AAR alerts, you may have noticed some corrections between the email alert and the edited post.

Perdóname por mis errores en esta mensaje. Es difícil a escribir en mi idioma segunda.
You were able to produce a text good enough to convey the message, but I think you managed to break almost every Spanish grammar rule in each sentence ;)

I used Google translate on your previous post
It's incredible how Google can understand quite a malformed text and correct everything to provide a perfect translation.

So do I. I hope bad luck doesn't make you give up and we can see your new AAR soon.

Ouch! I thought my Spanish was a little better than that, but I am not totally surprised. I had 5 years of Spanish instruction in middle school and high school. I taught a lot of non native speakers in an immersion program at an elementary school, but my lack of time in a Spanish speaking country shows.

I deliberately wrote my post without using a translation app on full sentences to show @john trask that I respect how hard it is to write in a foreign language. He did a much better job in English than I did in Spanish.

Hello! I nominated your story for the Q2 2025 ACA awards. I encourage other readers to vote for @John trask’s story as well. Despite its untimely death, this story was very well done. Also, take a moment to look at what people like. You might find your next good read.
