When playing multiplayer, my group experienced a wicked bug. Berlin was captured by the Soviet Union which resulted in Germany losing ALL of its IC production. Some members of the group were aware of this bug, but I had never heard of it before. This bug should be high on the priority list of fixes because once it occurs the game is over. It completely ruins an otherwise viable game. I assume other folks have experienced this?

PS...I posted this on the bug forum as well.

I know that the fall of a capital results in loss of all resource stores. Didn't know about the loss of production when Berlin falls. Do you know if this happens when another capital falls (ex. Moscow)?

This happens to all capitals. the resource center isn't moved if it is captured --> country screwed. It is a known bug.

This is a bug??? Ha, never knew that. Just thought it was a realy nasty part of the game. For the record, you can recover from it, but its really tough.

How? So far, the only way i heard is that you edit the event file of the nation and move the capital manually (but it didn't work when we tried in MP).

Problem is that you don't get any resource since Capital lost (but you keep having supplies, at least untill IC crashed for lack of resources) even if you control still many provinces.

It happened to me once while playing SU. Lost Moscow, resources started to decrease of the amount needed by the industry, then IC goes to 0 and game over.

Even if you have allies send you resources, those resources keep beeing unused by your industry somehow.

It's a KNOWN bug. Don't know if it will be fixed in 1.04 though. Actually, i think it's one of the major bugs still remaining. It's killing many good MP games.

I stand corrected.

Yes very nasty, sort of ruined our game.

See my post in From the Prime Minster's diary, an AAR of sorts, we were having a great fight, lost berlin, then supplies, this really ruined what was a great fight.

For the record my outstanding opponent would have probably won, this bug merely sullies his probable victory, too bad.

Tank, thanks for the kind words :)

It sucked. I would much rather had you get the IC's. A good fight is what I want. It would have been a lot of fun to continue the same intensity that we experienced during the first 2-3 months of our war.

It was a hollow victory.

Hey KaiserGab,

I know you said this didn't work but how do you edit this, or where did you see the mod info. The more I think about this issue, it is pretty critical to find a solution.

Considering Berlin, Paris, Moscow, and even London could fall long before the game is decided.

Also Italy pretty often dies because of this. Rome is easy to assault, and although right north of Rome is Bologna which is easy to defend, it doesn't matter much with 0 supplies, no way of getting any more and a slowly decreasing org with your troops.

one thing I'm a little fuzzy on... if you recapture your capital does supply/resource generation resume?

So what is a good way to avoid capture of a capital being a game-ender? (assuming it isn't the "end"). Loss of production is a killer, not to mention loss of supplies.

Events that move the capital should work. I think you can place the capital manually in the savegame file and that that works too. I don't know these editing stuff but i have read some posts who say they fixed it that way. Hope it helps. :)

As far as i understood, there are 2 ways to fix this (it will be fixed in next patch though):

1) create an event for every country which moves the capital
2) edit the savegame file moving the capital

The first method is explained in the thread in bug forum. I tried it but it didn't work in MP somehow, the event didn't trigger. But it was a saved game so maybe it works if you start with the modded event file.

The 2nd method would be the best. However, i didn't find in the savegame file any place where is mentioned the capital of a country. If someone knows how to do this, he is welcome.
