Over all this is a great game. But seriously, i always felt troublesome to find the right Colonists. And in later game, I just don't even bother to find people on Earth anymore. So I never research any techs for expand the passenger rockets. After all finding 12 colonists is pain in the ass and why i need to find more to fill the rocket?

But now, for counting the specialists number, you guys cut the list in half. Now I have to scroll down for everything.

Really, I don't care about the giant rocket or Giant Earth on the right hand side. And it takes the half of the screen.

I hope you can move the counter to the upper right and add a sorter for the filter,Something like Excel.

Maybe you can change the rocket and Earth into the background and use the full screen for choosing the colonists?

I'd really suggest not going nuts selecting new colonists. I'll select my first wave, maybe the second wave if I'm being cautious, but every wave after that is using the filter. At that point I'm looking for bodies more than anything.

Agreed, the information density increased without the UI design significantly changing to accommodate it. The stats either need to be moved, or displayed in a more compact manner so the selection feature (which is the entire point of that screen, so advice not to use it isn't exactly helpful) can be utilized as easily as it was before the update.

The filters are unnecessarily obnoxious when selecting colonists, and have never made much sense in this game. Why not use a hierarchical list instead? Why not combine the numbers in the upper part of the screen with the filters so that if you click on Engineers when viewing applicants the list is reordered so that all engineers are sorted to the top and marked with a different color while the rest of the applicants (still selectable) are greyed out? And next to the specializations would be traits, flaws, quirks etc so that everything can be sorted on the same screen, not through several submenus.

yaeh the new need for more scrolling is a bit of a pain, if they fix this they should also ad a man/woman counter ;) i like to bring always 6/6 in that regard

AmrothDin makes some good points and this should be adressed

Yeah, I just got the game this weekend and was rather surprised to find that the only way to check my male:female ratio was to mouse over every single colonist individually.

This is an issue since release, and colonist selection became even more important when they added Game Rules which upped the max difficulty.

Custom setting the order of the list would be also a nice addition as well besides the filters: like Botanists on top, then Geologists etc., or males at the top females bottom, not just put them in the list randomly. Which would reduce the need to go into that atrocious filters menu.

I tend towards just chucking randomly selected colonists after my founders, but even that could be improved. There's no heuristic "prefer botanists, but I'll take a fit enthusiast workaholic survivor guru over a melancholic alcoholic lazy botanist"; a thumbs up on botanists overrides all other concerns.

There's also no way to do complicated selections like "tourists can be any age, but regular colonists must be adults or youth".
