Hi all,

Right, this is a request for advice to all you modders out there. As Urban Warfare is still months away (as are the other three games any scifi gamer would be, prize if you guess them all) I thought I'd draw on your expertise.

I am looking for the mod which gives the definitive 3025 experience. I don't get much time to game and am halfway through my vanilla career. So probs end of March time I was hoping to download and do another career with more access to a range of mechs and weapons.

I've been looking at XLRP and understand it is compatible with Mech Engineer which looks fun too. I like the idea of being able to switch out engines, though worry it may be a bit too much!

So I ask you, the modding community what would give me the definitive experience. And how would I actually go about installing it?

Cheers all, you're a lovely community.

Lets see,

Here's my recomendation for you.

Modtech 7
Battletech extended 3025
SDLF Divisions
Weapons Diversity 3025

Install any required files any of these ask for such as all of the JK packages and the community assets pack. There's a few others but between these main 4 and the recommended's to go with 'em you should find a lot of fun and replayability. Restoration campaign or flashpoint career (or sandbox if you don't have flashpoint) Highly recommended that you be upgraded to v 1.4 or better.

If you like the idea of XLRP but don't want to use MechEngineer and stick to the vanilla MechLab instead, I recommend XAI. It is probably the most similar mod to XLRP overall.

Otherwise, I'd say Battletech Extended 3025 or Weapons Diversity 3025 as has already been said.

Oh, and you should definitely have a look a the community-made Mechs ported over from MWO. As far as I am aware, all 3025 Mechs of MWO have been done, though some contain post-3025 variants as well (but you could remove them from the mod folder if you want).

@TLRoff those sound good, especially if they integrate with the campaign. Might not have the energy for another full 1,200 day career! @olin011 suggested that extended and diversity don't play nice - is that an issue?

I do like the sound of Mech Engineer. More just worried that it'll end up a bit faffy. Does XLRP come with all the 3025 mechs, or is that a separate download?

Thanks for your help thus far everyone - keep any more suggestions coming though, really interested to see what the community have developed!

The new variants of vanilla mechs are included. The optional AddOns are included as well, but do require their respective mech mods to work (i.e. the Archer, Warhammer, etc.).
XLRP also contains a fair bit of LosTech, including more Star League Mechs. You won't face these as enemies, but you may be able to find parts of them in places like the Black Market.

As for MechEngineer, it's not that complicated actually. :) Mechs consist of a few more components than in vanilla BT, but you don't have to worry about adding the basic components as mechs do come equipped with them. Engines play a larger role as you mentioned, and being able to swap or one for a smaller or larger one is a big deal. Engines are expensive though, so you will often find yourself wondering if you should pick up that 300-rated engine as loot instead of that Mech part or ++ weapon. :D

Thanks for your suggestions all - I think I'll give XLRP a shot first. I really like the sound of Mech Engineer, and if the mod has all the extra 3025 mechs and weapons then it sounds exactly what I am looking for :)

Thank you all again, keep on modding!

@olin011 A couple of new versions of Weapon Diversity 3025 have been released since your comment. Could you run it with BTEX3025 again and let use know what you find?

I've played the newest version (1.4.0.5) for a few hours together with BTEX3025 and I'm happy to say that shops were working properly and I haven't encountered any other bugs :)
@7star Thank you for your work!

Well definitive.. it's getting there. My homebrew mod has a few extra's including the just released "Stone Rhino" of course I use the "pirate" version ie: Behemoth. my build on it has a Alpha strike of 620 with a heat delta of a mear 12 per turn of fire..a touch more if I go crazy with the JJ's.
my BT mods.jpg

I go back and forth on the Zero weight mods.. it's well, cheating but on the other hand the slot layout for the game isn't quite TT rules. I figure its fair..and I always play with difficulty jacked as much as I can manage including to tweeks in the games simconstants file. And I do have mechs that took part in the 39 war as you can note. I highly recommend the Project 3039 mod if for no other possible reason then the 55 ton Marshal. It's a very nice 55 ton ride it is.. I've manage a 403 max damage on my build of it.

so yea my "list" is the latest of Battletech 3025 Extended (which has a number of includes), SLDF Divisions, weapons diversity 3025, Z_JK appearance Dates and VarientsCampaign_Jumpjets, Z_Sab+JK Encounters, Encounters-OtherMods, and Rarity Tables. And dont forget the Community Asset Bundle.. (use the manual installer!). and of course Project3029

Make a full second install of the base game as a backup as in the process of plugging in mods you will hose your install at LEAST once. Theres a number of none clan mechs availible and the only reason I mentions the Stone Rhino is technically it was a star league era mech..um.. and it looks really cool! Nice bit of kit bashing!

Warlord sends

P.S. I also have flashpoints enabled with a full map unlock once the Argo is acquired.

Anyone knows if Battletech Extended 2025 includes removal of the story difficulty boosts or if it is compatible with the mod "Removed Story difficulty boosts and Planet difficulty variety"?

I'll point Haree here for that Question @BZA

Extended 3025 doesn't change anything to do with the way mission difficulty is chosen, there is a way at a start of a career (cannot recall if this is with a custom campaign also) that changes difficulty chosen by planet you can use, that is what I choose.
The mod you mentioned hasn't been updated in a very long time so I doubt it works properly.

You are right. Just tried it and yes, it runs but it doesn't work, all planets are stuck at half a skull even after completing several Campain missions.

What about the fatigue and panic mods? Do you think it could work with them?
