Kind of strange that China isn't in the majors select screen (still hoping for a 'clean up the abomination that is our borders' focus in their tree). Looking forward to HOI4 in any case.
Yeah, China has been really quite throughout Victoria 2 now, I was kind of hoping they'd do something significant with the massive army they have but it didn't happen. Oh well, they still have a chance to do something in HOi4 so I'll be on the look out for that.

I hope China at least cleans up the Mongol border gore.

Well, I finally caught up and I'm excited to see where this goes next. It's also quite a coincidence that in my megacampaign India also fell to fascism under the RSS/Rasa movement with its supreme leader called a neta. Let's hope Vijayanagar here doesn't get as crazy as my own India...

I'm afraid to ask what happened to yours, but I definitely see a lot of war in mine's future!

That may change, considering that list is customizable. I'm still deciding exactly what I want to do with China in the HoI4 leg, so they're still a little up in the air compared to countries like France, the Elbe Republic, Germany, and Persia that I have more clear ideas for.

Let’s hope it’s not that much war...

Empires & Ideologies - The Global Polarization of the 1920's
When Henri Laurent took the reins of the newly restored French nation, he began to blaze the trail that much of Europe and the world would follow into throughout the early decades of the 20th centuries. Slowly, he transformed the French nation into an increasingly militarized, aggressive state bent on achieving a new empire for the French people through conquest and the suppression of dissent. In the heart of a fragile postwar Europe, the first roots of what would become fascism had taken root. The ancient monarchies of Europe had suffered a crushing defeat in the Great War, and the great democracies had become increasingly isolated thanks to the backlash of their postwar nation-building. In that vacuum, more extreme ideologies were given the space they needed to bloom and grow with minimal opposition.

It was not only France that began traveling down these radical roads -- all across Europe, nations were beginning to fall into circles of influence based on their political ideologies.

The Arabian Soviet Socialist Republic, formed in the aftermath of an extensive revolution that overthrew the old imperial regime in Constantinople, likewise used the vulnerability of the world's former major powers to expand its own reach. In 1920, Arabian troops occupied Libya -- one of the many small African states that had been formed from Andalusian colonies after the Great War. Outwardly, Ibrahim Jaziri justified the annexation as a response to requests for help from the Libyan people against the abuses of the country's young government. He sent Femi Kamal, his second-in-command and fellow revolutionary leader, to enter Libya with an elite regiment comprised entirely of black African troops, taking over the centers of government and overseeing the integration of Libya into the greater republic.

Very few world leaders gave any credence to Jaziri's claims, but the move was met with weak diplomatic condemnations, at best. Andalusia, the former colonial overlord of the region, sent a formal letter of protest to Constantinople, while Estonia, which had overseen the creation of the free African states, remained silent on the issue. Estonia was quickly falling into a bitter political struggle, and very few within the country had any interest in becoming involved in outside affairs.

The Estonian National Liberal Party managed to keep control of the government, but as years passed the parliament began to transform into a fragmented, divided mess. By 1921, the socialists had the largest presence in the nation's legislative assembly, but even they held only 29% of seats. Estonia's political parties became increasingly divided with each new election, and bitter debate over even the smallest matter of internal policy or diplomatic posturing became mired in endless debates. Where the parties had previously been able to maintain a modest majority through the forming of inter-party coalitions, that cooperation broke down in the 1920's and brought Estonia screeching to a political halt.

The nation's economy remained healthy and the quality of life in Estonia remained high, but the largest nation in Europe seemed adrift without a sense of direction. While fascism rose in the France, presidential dictatorships spread through the Balkans, and communism continued to spread out of Arabia, the nation that had once declared itself the leader of the free world remained eerily silent, watching the world transform around it. The coming years would see even more radical changes in Europe and across the world, but it remained to be seen if Estonia could unite long enough to have a hand in the destiny of the 20th century.

And here we are at the final post!

Short one here, but at this point not much is happening in the way of major world changes this late in the game. I'm ending the AAR at this point in history so that I have some time to work with to craft the narrative backstories I need heading into the HoI4 leg. Not to mention, I've got some fairly concrete ideas about what I want to do with the stories of several nations, and I don't need a surprise second great war coming in and messing it all up!

At this point, I've been working pretty diligently to mod all of the out-of-box military forces, starting technologies, and leaders of the major world nations. I'm not sure if I'm going to be good enough of a modder to create some custom focuses for the big players, so while I'm going to try, I may end up crafting some events that I can manually fire to push along a couple of big events.

In any event, I'm excited to see this chapter close, and I'm honored to receive a recognition at the end of the line too! This has been a fantastic adventure, and I can't wait to get the Hearts of Iron part up and running and see how WW2 and beyond shapes up.

I'll probably need several more weeks at the very least to finish having the mod in a place where I'm comfortable, so at this point I'll just be slowly going along with my German narrative campaign until I'm ready to kick this off. From there, we have two more legs.. HoI4, and then Stellaris!

Thanks! The converter provided a very nice base, I just had to manually add the air forces and proper navies, and I did some manual tweaking to industry to prevent some nations from being massively OP. It's a fantastic foundation, and after I tweak a few more nations and try my hand at some custom foci, I should be in excellent shape.

I'm curious what kinds of changes you made to air forces and navies (if only to try to improve the converter). I'm guessing its things that aren't easily automated, though. Vic2 doesn't give a lot of good material to work with there.

I will say, depending on how you've been doing your modifications, it might be helpful to reconvert every now and again (and maybe use Beyond Compare or MinMerge to merge the changes if needed). I've made some significant improvements to commanders recently, plus some support for the latest HoI4 patches.

In terms of air forces, I added them, as no countries spawned with any air units. I'm guessing this is because I ended the game a solid decade early, thus not giving nations enough time to really build up convertible air units? And on the navy side, every nation started with just heavy / light cruisers converted from their old navies, so I created more variation in them.

Air forces are from Vic2 airplanes, so them being missing makes sense. And maybe that also explains the navies, but I'm not sure. Commerce raiders should become destroyers, cruisers light cruisers, battleships heavy cruisers, and dreadnoughts battleships.

Given that my V2 nations weren't very good at building navies to begin with, I don't find it surprising. But it's actually been kind of fun crafting all the starting air/navy forces, so I haven't really minded! I have a few smaller nations to do some balance passes on and then I can try my hand at focus coding.. With any luck, inside of a few weeks I can at least start doing the intro/narrative posts.

Quite a lot of fascists and communists in your upper house, that’s worrying going into HOI4. Excited for what the next stage will bring!
