I have actually just picked Vicky and Ricky myself. Having played EU2/3, HoI 2/3, CK and Rome I pick up a lot of the basics. Also saw a link for a couple of AARs that might help me learn.
One thing though, I started a game as Brazil and noticed that everyone else's troops seem to move way quicker than mine. To give an example...
My troops in province A, theirs in province B. I move to attack, win the battle and have the game set to pause when I win so i can immediately set off after them. They flee into province C and I follow them (already figured out how to match their movement direction to see where they're going.
Problem is they get there way quicker than I do, giving them the chance to reinforce their troops and sometimes even move to another province before my troops arrive. This has happened with infantry v infantry, so it's not like I am chasing a faster troop type like cavalry. It's not a case of a general for them, it's happened when they don't have a general and I do.
Is this simply to do with them moving through their own provinces quicker than I do? I'd have to check, but it seemed to me that it also happened on my lands, though I won't stake my life on that one. Having played a lot of EUIII where movement rates don't change on anybody's lands, this is majorly frustrating. Makes chasing down and annihilating enemy troops a real chore.
