Well guys, I'm at a loss here. First, let me say I'm sorry for taking so much time to actually get around to playing the next chapter (I did the first couple of years a while ago, but various things prevented me from going further).

Second, I think I should explain the situation. You see, my game has begun crashing. I never really bothered to check the date the first few times, so I'm not sure whether it's associated with a date or just an event. I don't know what could cause it--the several no-religion countries in the save? The Border Dispute popping up when I'm at war with an enemy I have no border with? I just don't know. As I see it, I have three options:
-Give up and end the AAR (if you vote for this I'm going to plug my ears and say "LA LA LA I'M NOT LISTENING")
-Tinker with the save (assign religion to the no-religion guys, edit a couple of the colonized provinces in my capital region to remove barbarians, etc)
-Go on and hope it's just a massive coincidence (it might just be, and if it isn't I might find out more)

So, what do you guys think? I'm not exactly well-versed in the ways of EU:R, and quite a few of you likely have more experience in it than me. I'm thinking I should go put the fear of God(s), whatever God(s) that might be for their capital, into the atheist countries.

I started up a number of runs. I've confirmed that the crash will only strike on January 1st. Incidentally, I've also put the autosave setting on 'Yearly'. I then began experimenting with other saves from the AAR and other nations. Again, crash on January 1st. Then, I tried to play a save from the base game (as you'll remember, I'm using the Hotfix mod).

I say tried because there were no countries when I loaded up a save. Nor when I loaded up a different save. So far, the 539 (edit: it's 574, isn't it? I forget, I've been too busy trying to figure out why Rome is crashing) map for everything is fine, but it seems 1)every save is corrupted, 2)Rome is somehow corrupting the saves when it loads them, 3)Rome isn't reading the saves correctly, 4)Rome is just bugging out in general, or 5)the universe hates me. Possibly all of these combined.

I would post this in the bug report section (along with the revolters-with-no-religions thing, and the various other odd things that have happened) but I have no registration key. Fun day. I may have to declare this AAR dead from corrupted save/game/universe.

EDIT: Oh, and I tried tinkering with the save, but as you can see that's not it, and the save file was big and scary. I also tried getting a screenshot of the error from the January 1st crash and a screenshot of the blank map, but neither turned out right (ie, I was too late for both).

I'm afraid I'm going to have to end this AAR. I don't know what's imploded, but something has. Let's just pretend this ended with an attempt at world conquest and fun times were had by all (including the Tyrants of Gaul), shall we? :D Oh, and I really wanted to include a history of the Elitovid family from Ariovistus onwards. Oh well.

Look for me to start another AAR with some game or another some time in the next century or so. Or maybe not. ;)
