The game begins to stutter while panning as my empire grows independently of government type, population in the world, or any other aspects that would affect performance. The stuttering occurs while the game is paused, or while time is going. The stuttering happens every 1 - 2 seconds, once again regardless of it is paused or playing. It doesn't matter what graphical settings I have on; the issue persists. I have tried the full screen optimization fix + capping the fps at 60 + 1080p resolution, but once again nothing happens. I have uninstalled the game 3 times, the last one being a FULL clean installation (deleted all documents, moved my saved games to a different folder, and installed everything fresh). I have made the game an exemption for Antivirus checks. I have installed C++ and NET. to see if it helps, but it didn't. I have run the task manager while panning to see where the performance drops may be, but there are none. I have looked at almost every post in here that has to do with screen stuttering while panning and tried almost every fix, and nothing works. I am at the roads end. I believe I have reached the limit regarding my basic knowledge regarding Ck3 Troubleshooting. This issue is out of my grasp.

I have a 13th Gen Intel(R) Core (TM) i9-13900K 3.00 GHz processor, 32.0 GB of RAM, an NVIDIA RTX 4090, water cooling directly to my CPU. My computer is top tier. Performance is not the issue.

I have attached my save game to this post in hopes it can somehow help, as well as the DXDIAG report. Please help me. I really want to continue my campaign, but this stuttering is making a nightmare to do so. (I am using a mod in the save I attached, and that is Divine Intervention as it allowed me to grab large titles in matter of seconds in order to replicate the issue.)

Thank you in advance.

I'm already helping you with this in a Zendesk ticket.

See you there!

I am having the identical problem as OP. When moving the camera around the map, my screen freezes for ~1 second every ~3 seconds, creating a laggy/stuttering effect.
I don't otherwise have lag/performance issues and this problem and have a fairly high end computer.

I'll add that this only started ~1 week ago with the announcement of the China expansion and the associated patch. Prior to last week, I never had this issue before.

Would really appreciate some help because it makes playing the game extremely annoying and borderline unplayable.

The OP's issue only affected a particular campaign that was well advanced , not in say a new test game. Is that your situation too?

Right click on ck3.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullScreen optimisations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply and exit.

Then in the launcher Game Settings menu, select fullScreen display mode, Vsync off, cap refresh rate at 60.

If those don't help:

DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

IF dxdiag.txt fails to attach here, rename it to dxdiag.log , or zip it up.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/pdx_settings.txt .

From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log , exceptions.txt

I believe I mentioned it to you that it affected both the ongoing (where I first noticed it) and any later ones I made. I believed it was mods at first, but then I took them off and tried all the troubleshooting procedures we discussed in the Zendesk ticket. Mods or not, low graphics or not, 1080p + V sync off fix or not, the issue is still there. More people are noticing it now because its been a week since the game updated and their realms are increasing in size by now. I made the post on the Bug report and others mentioned the exact same issue. Stuttering that only appears on large realms and that it happens every second even of the game is paused. No devs have answered there, but I hope they look at it. It is excruciating to play like this, and if they don't address it on whatever patch comes after it will be very sad indeed.
