Information

I have verifed my game files (Steam only)

Yes

I have disabled all mods

Yes

I am running the latest game update

Yes

Required

Summary

The game begins to stutter drastically while panning every 1 to 2 seconds, even while the game is paused.

Description

The game begins to stutter while panning as my empire/realm grows independently of government type, population in the world, or any other aspects that would affect performance. The stuttering occurs while the game is paused, or while time is going. The stuttering happens every 1 - 2 seconds, once again regardless of it is paused or playing. It doesn't matter what graphical settings I have on; the issue persists. I have tried the full screen optimization fix + capping the fps at 60 + 1080p resolution, but once again nothing happens. I have uninstalled the game 3 times, the last one being a FULL clean installation (deleted all documents, moved my saved games to a different folder, and installed everything fresh). I have made the game an exemption for Antivirus checks. I have installed C++ and NET. to see if it helps, but it didn't. I have run the task manager while panning to see where the performance drops may be, but there are none. I have looked at almost every post in here that has to do with screen stuttering while panning and tried almost every fix, and nothing works. I rolled back the game to the previous version 1.14.3 and the issues weren't there, but once I updated the game back the stutter appears again. I am at the roads end. I believe I have reached the limit regarding my basic knowledge regarding Ck3 Troubleshooting. This issue is out of my grasp.

I have a 13th Gen Intel(R) Core (TM) i9-13900K 3.00 GHz processor, 32.0 GB of RAM, an NVIDIA RTX 4090, water cooling directly to my CPU. My computer is top tier. Performance is not the issue.

I would like to make emphasis to what I mentioned. The issue is not present in update 1.14.3, and instead only appeared since the latest update.

Steps to reproduce

Open the save. Begin panning across the map. Every one to two seconds the screen should stutter while panning (WASD or mouse). You must have a large realm for it to trigger (AKA Byzantines and HRE together realm size), so the safe will reflect this.

Game Version

1.15

Platform

Windows

Ya honestly hard to say if this is already fixed for khans of steppes next week. In any case I’m sure some of us will post back here thats it’s not if the dlc release still doesn’t fix it.

I still just don’t get why no one from the team can acknowledge this issue. Incredible.

I can confirm this keeps happening and it's really annoying. As soon as your empire is large enough, this issue just ruins the game. It's also definetely not related to hardware, since even changing the game speed from 1 to 5 or pausing the game doesn't stop the fixed stutter which happens every 2/3 seconds. Let's really hope this is already fixed for the khans of the steppe dlc release.

Ya got a bad feeling we will posting back here on Monday or Tuesday of next week. Maybe with the DLC out it will free up a programmer to look into the issue. Hard to say honestly cause they won’t respond at all.

I think what’s said there is basically the gist of the issue. It’s the same for me in vanilla as I have never experienced it cause I have never been that large, but clearly it’s there in vanilla from examples posted in this thread. I just don’t feel this is a priority for them because it’s way more noticeable in a TC Mod like GoT and PDX doesn’t care about that even though I wouldn’t be surprised if tons of people have brought ck3 just to play TC mods like GoT and not vanilla. So it would be smart for them to fix this issue.

But the fact they are not acknowledging or posting in this thread a status update is just silly and shortsighted on there part.

Here is to hoping after Khans is release maybe they start to take a notice of this issue hopefully.

All right y'all. Just one more day. We shall see if Paradox was ignoring us this time because they were aware of this issue and were going to fix it with this upcoming patch, or if they actually just neglected our feedback and will continue to allow such an annoying bug to continue to plunder the performance and gameplay of those who continuously like to recreate rome, World Conquest enthusiasts, and AGoT players alike.

Just one more day and we will see C:

Personally, I haven't reached the level of lag where the game would stutter every 1 to 2 seconds. But that might be because I do not play for long and do not use admin realms.

Once I tried to convert my old empire to admin in 1.15, and the symptoms closely resembled what is described in this thread. Terrifying lag. The conversion process generated hundreds of notifications (!!) that clogged notification area and it took me several minutes to dismiss them (each time I dismissed one the UI would freeze for couple of seconds). Map panning was unusable too.

In feudal realms there are also performance issues: notification area is laggy, map panning is not smooth, choosing a person to fill court position causes freezes in large/old realms. But once you have very old save or switch to admin government those issues get drastically worse.

Things weren't this bad in older versions.

Agot crashes when trying to launch it since it's very not much compatible with the new update, but I started annexing countries in vanilla using debug, and the issue still exists.

When agot gets updated I can check it out there.

Okay guys. The issue still exists. I chose the byzantine empire in 1178 and began to annex all the necessary land to form Rome (I know it was present with roman borders). I took all of Salah Al-din's land, then I took the Almohads land, then the Rum Selkujs, then the HRE. The game stutters every 1-2 seconds just as before. I am extremely disappointed.

I know do question my decision of buying the chapter IV as soon as it was released because I wanted to "support" paradox. Funnily enough, they posted a picture not so long ago of two developers sword fighting in a playful manner at the studio with the caption of "Can't do any work. A sword fight broke out". If that's what's occurring instead of addressing issues such as the one on this post, then that's such a terrible professional practice.

I don't even know what else to say. I highly doubt they will hotfix it because they definitely didn't do it with 1.15.X, so with all the issues this update brought/will bring it is just not likely whatsoever.

I truly don't know what else to say. I am so disappointed man...
