The game crashes completely, it also crashes my PC and I have to force it to turn off.

Description

Since the new update, the game crashes completely after a while, and it also blocks my entire computer and I have to force it to turn off with the power button.

It usually happens to me when the game auto-saves.

I already filed another bug report but no one has answered me and I would like someone to tell me something, since I want to continue playing.

Steps to reproduce

Starting a game and playing until at some point the game crashes, this usually happens when you automatically save.

Right click on victoria3.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullScreen optimisations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply and exit.
Then in the launcher Game Settings menu, select fullScreen display mode, Vsync off, cap refresh rate at 60.

If those don't help:
DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Victoria3/pdx_settings.json .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Victoria3/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log , exceptions.log

It doesn't work for me, I did the other thing you recommended and here I attach the file.

Since I use the translator to understand, I may not have understood some of the information correctly.

I don't know if this is what you are asking of me, if so I hope it is resolved.

You are running Windows 11 yet that system.log says Windows 8. Did you put a compatibility mode on victoria3.exe perhaps? Please Right click on victoria3.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullScreen optimisations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply and exit.

If that doesn't help, what fps are you seeing in the game before it crashes? Anything over 60?

Please report the temperatures of your CPU and video (GPU)
1/ before starting the game up and
2/ after say 30 minutes' play.
If your PC's vendor has given you no way of reading temperatures, install
SPEEDFAN http://www.almico.com/sfdownload.php

I'm sorry for not answering, but right now I'm too busy to play, but as soon as I have a moment I'll try what you told me.

Thank you

Ok, I tried it again and it keeps failing, I think it's a problem with the game, because the other games work well for me, and even more demanding games also work well.

It's your problem, before the American update it worked fine for me.

Can I see new copies of all those game log/text files please, plus a new dxdiag.txt . Thanks.

I meant ALL 5 files I mentioned in post #3 - only one of those in in that bunch you just sent. Thanks.

Here you go, but I can't find exceptions.log, I'll send you the others.

Sorry to be insistent, but you've now just sent 2 of the files I asked for - error.log and system.log

As a reminder, here are the other two I mentioned in post #3:
DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Victoria3/pdx_settings.json .

I'm sorry for not understanding it well, I think that's it.

Another thing that occurs to me is to wait for the next update, maybe you will open it already fixed.

While it is almost certainly a hardware issue, the QA department can also try and troubleshoot it from the crash log minidump.
@Carlux Could you please upload the contents of one of the folders within "Documents/Paradox Interactive/Victoria 3/crashes"?

Before the Colossus of America update it worked fine, I have the same computer, the one thing is that I updated from Windows 8 to Windows 11, but that was several days after having the Colossus of America update, so it still Without changes in the team, the game itself began to fail due to expansion.

It's unlikely that my computer will suddenly crash just with that game (and with other Paradox games but to a lesser extent)

I understand, however to nail down what exactly went wrong we need the specified files.

If the game has worked before the system update and the 1.5 patch, you could also try deleting the shader cache folder "C:\Users\yourusername\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Victoria 3\shadercache" and try to run the game again.

Nothing appears in the crashes folder.

And I tried to delete the contents of the shadercache folder and while I was deleting it it said that there were more than 33.000 elements (I don't know if that is normal).

But as soon as I tried to delete the order, it started to go very slow and I was scared so I restored it.

I don't see that you've capped the refresh rate to 60, so the game will be running at 165hz or more most likely - which could well cause overheating and the computer crash. What actual fps are you seeing?

It is; mine had over 27,000.

But as soon as I tried to delete the order, it started to go very slow and I was scared so I restored it.
Please delete it again. It will be slow the first time after that, as it has to recreate that cache; after that it should be okay next time you play.
