The game freezes HoI DD

The game (HOI DD) have been working ok until now (1945) Now the game freezes after a couple of seconds and I have to turn my computer off. I have tried to load different saves with different dates but it the same. I have also tried the "standard things" recommended here at the forum but it doesn´t work.

Its weird, I havent done anything and suddenly it just dont work

Does that mean that if you start a new game and play for a game month, then save the game, you cannot load that save game?

I tried to start a new game and it worked. I played for some weeks. I then tried to load an old game (from 1944, not 1945) and suddenly it worked for some weeks, but then, when I tougth everything was ok, it freezed again :( So now I can play between a couple of hours to a few weeks (HOI DD-TIME)

Does the game just lock up with no error message, do you need to push the power button on your computer to get out of the game?

Yes, no error message and power button mostly (a few time its says "det har uppstått ett problem och programet måste avslutas...")

Which means?

Okay let's try some standard things.
1) Make sure you have the latest patch for the game.
2) Rename the AVI folder to AVI_back
3) Set the color depth to 16BIT
4) Turn off everything in the background like E-mail/ICQ/Messenger, Virus protection and everything in the system tray beside the clock.
5) Run a Virus check and a Adware/Spybot checker
6) Update your Windows, update your Video card drivers and audio card drivers. Then repeat steps 1-4.

Please run a DirectX Diagnostic:
Start menu –Run - then type Dxdiag, then select each tab across the top of the window, and run the tests on each tab. Then select “Save All Information” button in the lower right of the window. This will bring up a dialog box to allow you to select a name for the file where the information will be saved. You can save it right on the desktop as this will make it easy to find. Then copy the contents of that file from the start to the heading that says “DirectX components” then paste what you have copied into a post in this thread.
