The game hangs :(

My Scandinavian Europa Universalis 2 hangs often. The screen turns black for about 2 seconds then the game shuts itself down and i return to XP. I have a pentium 4 with over 500 megs ram. It hangs sometimes when i try to load a savegame and sometimes in the middle of the gameplay. I have re-installed it twice and I haven't messed with the game files. What's the problem?

PS. I have the 1.04 patch. (scandinavian)

Well it sounds like some sort of bug allright, but I could be anything causing the game to crash. If you could tell some details then it would probably help the moderators on this forum a lot.

There are a number of CTD bugs in 1.04. Some are mentioned in the sticky threads at the top of this forum. For instance don't load saved games within a running game, instead Surrender the running game then load the save. All the ones we know of will be fixed in 1.05; I can't give you an ETA for this but not too long I believe (say < 1 month).

AndrewT: Thanks, the last time it hung was when I reloaded in the middle of the game. Trebizond aren't that easy you know . And, where does it stand when the 1.05 patch is coming out?

it shouldn't be very long. I'd say no latter than the end of the month, but that's my guess only.

I'm moving this to the support forum. check the sticky threads, some solutions might be available for you.

if you have a Nvidia card, removing the drivers with the Detonator Buster utility often help.
