I have literally the recommended specs - RX580, Ryzen 5. Literally verbatim the specs set as recommended. The game gets choppy by 1865 and I'm already running medium to low settings, just trying to find the sweet spot where the map doesn't yet switch to literal EU III looks, but where chopping is minimum. This is terrible and inexcusable. I am frustrated and I need to vent this. At this point, I can't even return the game if I wanted to, because I had to spend an x amount of hours to find out I will probably not be able to finish it.

Fix your game please.

This doesn't happen to me
I think it might be related to development of the country you're/I am playing. Less developed Japan did not have nearly as bad issues, very developed Austria that was getting quite ahead of its time was just chop chop chop. Maybe it has something to do with amounts of objects the map is trying to represent, I don't know. But it is real.

Mikael has said on Reddit (can't link due to forum rules, even though he's a dev!) that late game lag was greatly worsened by a late change to AI and that the devs are currently testing a branch that fixes it.

Although every PDS game ever has suffered from late game lag and log is not the same as the choppiness that you are reporting. I am really wondering whether my iGPU is actually going to be able to run V3, even though it meets the min specs.
