This all started happening when I updated the game today in Epic Games.

When I click play in the launcher the game starts and the title screen shows up for about 3s than it just stops, it's not in the task manager, nowhere. It's the same when I start from eu4.exe.

I tried running as administrator or disabling full screen optimization, I deleted all files an reinstalled again. I have no mods or DLCs.

And know before I sent this I tried to run the game again and now it says "Launching game failed" by the play button.

What do I do? Please, help! Hurry! There's no school tomorrow and I want to play Eu4 with friends.

Version: 1.32.1.0 Songhai (78cb)

Where are all the files that need to be deleted?

In the game launcher please set Display mode to Borderless. THEN go here:
And run the x86 and x64 installers there.

IF that doesn't help, Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Epic-EU4
- manually delete both the Epic/EU4 AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/EU4 folders
- re-install game in Epic
- add EU4.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Epic EU4 or Documents EU4 locations, before installing again.

Also if you have installed RivaTuner, RadeonPro, or a gaming VPN app called Evolve, or the MSI Gaming App, or Duet, disable it as it clashes with this game.

IF that doesn't help:
DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/EU4/settings.txt and pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/EU4/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log .

I does not work and I know now why it showed launching game failed. It's because I set it to adminstrator mode and now after removing it I'm back to my first issue of the game loading screen showing for a couple seconds. There's no settings file. I did everything, I updated the C++ set to borderless. Unistalled and cleaned up and installed.

Edit: and also I have avast antivirus and there no eu4 or launcher even listed as options to block or unblock. Windows defender is turned off.

This is certainly Avast getting in the way:
[virtualfilesystem_physfs.cpp:1253]: Could not open file: pdx_settings.txt, error: permission denied
You may need to contact their support to make sure eu4.exe and paradox launcher.exe are allowed to read and write to the Windows user Documents folders.

Good luck!
